There's no accounting for taste when it comes to tarting up your car

I would like to say that it seems to me that this guy has no imagination !!
I feel that if you can personalise anything it should be your pride and joy, i.e. your car. If you do have a "dull as dishwater, common as muck, off the shelf jellymould Eurobox" then would it not be better to personalise it in any way you seem fit. This will individualise the car, and make it yours and yours alone. I agree that many mods on cars are not needed but there are of course some that are. Personly i enjoy being able to spend money on my car, and make it look as good as possible untill i have the money to buy a proper sports car, i.e. TVR, Ferrari and Porsche. Why should you car whatbpeople chose to do to their own car, and personaly i feel that and modifiction to a car is good, as it sets it out from all, the rest !!

And "this guy" would be...?

Not perhaps the guy that provides us with this website free, gratis, out of the goodness of his own heart?

Hmmm...

As Eddie Izzard observed, there's a circle encompassing "normal", "hip & cool" and "looking like a w*nker". Try to hard to look hip & cool and you end up going to far and looking like a w*nker. Body coloured rubber wiper boots. Arrrrrgh.

The site is free to us but "out of the goodness of his heart" is a little over the top , ever heard of advertising revenue .

i did not mean to offend anyone by reffering to petrolted as "this Guy", but i do take offence to marshy implying that everyone who modifies their car is a wank*r!!!

WOULD IT NOT BE DULL IF ALL CARS LOOKED THE SAME !

So i still believe that any change to car inorder to make it one of a kind can't be a bad thing. However there is no accounting for taste in some peoples cases !!!

marki has a point, as long as the modifications are done properly and by proffesionals then the car can look very neat and sporty. If people do wish to bolt tacky bits of rubbish on them then good luck to them !!
At least it gives us a good laugh to see them on the road, and as long as they like it who else cares !!

Agreed, the roads would not be half as funny as they are without the bolt-on-boys.

Only some cars LIKE chava Saxsos that didn't make the corner and went into the window of Halfords and came out over dozed AirFix kits
Dont get me wrong, I like to make cars look different but there is a limit or every car and i have seen to many OTT and need a to get some of the bits back off

I'll get me coat

personnaly, i am planning on doing the job properly. I am 19 so the chances of me getting insurance on any decent sports car is nil !!
So my most recent purchase of a 2 litre peugoet 306 is the best i can do for now. All the body work i am having done is going to be done by proffesionals i.e.Melton Mowbray. I will try and post a photo when it is finished so you can decide yourself if that is over the top!!!?

Not everyone - god knows I've bolted enough bits onto my cooking car, but all in keeping with the image of the car. However, there are undoubtedly those that stray too far... with hilarious results.

And I know Ted does it for the advertising revenue, but we do get a pretty good site as a result, no?

I was watching Carnage the other day and a bloke appeared on that with a nice 306. Not only was he quite articulate but his car was subtley modified with a nice bodykit and tinted windows and looked well done.

I'll get me Isopon P38...

Had my hols in Tenerife recently, and couldn't help noticing that every other car was convincingly modified - subtle bodykits, big pipes, smart wheels etc. Very few that looked like they had been bodged up in someones backyard, or were still work in progress.

Tigras, Corsas, Saxos, Puntos, Golfs, Polos, even a Rover 100! Most of them looked good enough to have been factory produced.

Why is it that the yoof over there can doa professional job, but here the average modified car looks like a two year old was let loose with a hammer and a tin of dulux?

But if you saved all the money from your paper round instead of spending it trying to make a good well designed hatchback into something Stevie Wonder built to make Quasimodo feel like he had been a major influence on car design then you would have the money for a 'proper sports car' as you put it sooner.
