Does MG Rover really have a chance of survival in a country hell-bent on destroying it. I am pxxxxd off with people in this country. Do we ever hear of complaints against foreign car ads??

Whats wrong with this sodding country?! I am an MG owner and bl@@dy proud of what the company have achieved after being buggered about by BMW.

But it just seems that whatever they do, there is always going to be some bl@@dy narrow minded idiot who wants to drop them in it!!!

Is it really a problem if MG get their ads pulled?

Let's face it, by the the time the complaint has been upheld, the ad has already done it's run and targeted the people that MG want to sell to. So IMO the extra publicity arising from the complaint can do them no harm.

Possibly a reason for their much increased sales?

nice call, johnny boy. Maybe MG paid that woman to make a comment so people would stand up and say, "WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU? I like mg, hey, maybe I'll go buy one. If that's what's going on, it's f***ing brilliant, and now I'll go buy an MG, oh f***, I live in the US, they don't sell cars here yet. dammit. I'd kind of like to see a cock joke on tv every now and then as well. hopefully the x80 will bring mg to the us as the mangusta was legal here. laters

As pointed out its actualy working in their favour (we're all talking about it, we're on their side, and who's their target market? us!!!)

Is this some kind of grand strategy to make Rover seem more 'risky / exciting'.

If it is I take my hat off to their marketing people....

Lets all object to at least one advert on totally spurious grounds e.g. baked beans ads encourage flatulence, panty liner ads only ever portray women and are therefore sexist etc and bury the nannies at the ASA in pointless paperwork

Political correctness here we come, whilst we're at it lets ban the MG TV campaign because it promotes caffeine and other 'bad things'. Seems to me that the Heart has gone out of Midlothian!

calm down shadow, I think MG's ad men are on the case and are probably manipulating it all anyway, the sales are on the up, the cars are desirable and every brit wants them to win....except, perhaps, for some poor frustrated old bint who sees what she aint getting in a car advert

Okay, here's my attempt at a replacement MG ad:

Black screen. Sound of car door opening, closing, car driving away (gently). Big letters: "ITS NOT A BMW". Small MG badge at bottom of screen.

or...black screen, MG badge comes in to focus and the stereotype cockney voice says, "Do you want some?"

"I have reason to believe one of MG's adverts was pulled because of one persons opinion of the sexual inuendo. I want to know why one persons sexually repressed opinions can outweigh the wishes of normal people and the potential success of a British Company".... just sent this to the ASA

I saw an advert last night (for Renault I think) and feel I must complain. I happened to be eating when my senses were ASSAULTED by the sight of bags of blood being wheeled along on a trolley, in the next frame a - dare I say - sperm was battling it's way in to fertalise an egg, these gratuitous scenes nearly put me off my third Beef and Onion pie!! .
Do you think I should send it to the ASA?
