In reply to Ian (McNab), no connection with Autocar other than having read it for the last 46 years (and Car since its first issue in 1964) etc etc. Sad that I still haven't grown up and still get mistaken for Steve Cropley.

I can't believe the Autcar circulation is so low.

Bear in mind that Autocar is weekly whereas most of the others are monthly.

Don't be sad Ken! God bless you for being true to yourself and (obviously) enjoying what you have believed in for so long.

Ted, that makes Autocar circa 280,000 in comparison to the monthlies - more like it?

Probably not because a large proportion of the audience will be the same people each week, so they're still reaching fewer people than the others. Sounds like next time they roadtest an MPV they should put a NumBimbo on the bonnet.

Good mag though. It's one of my regular reads. A good balance of articles.

Thanks for finding those stats Ted, It made for interesting (if slightly concerning) reading.

I must remember that next time I point & laugh at one of the trev`s "cruisin" through the City

I let you all draw your own conclusions.

Who says alcohol rots the brain ?
Louise Ridley you have the nastiest nogo I've ever seen !!! And it's a diseasel no doubt your "tasteful" mods have given it 150bhp though lol.
If I make the bora look like this do you think I'll get lots of babes (like Jordan) ? I'm going to fit a banging 1000 kw (that's what MP said it had) sound system too.

Just found the FUN: Bolt on Boys topic. lol !

Chaps,

Found this on the internet :

www.ogmac.co.uk/sidcup/car.htm

Obviously someone else finds this whole Max Power thing equally as amusing. Rather amusing really....

Cheers,

But the car which actually made me laugh out loud in a car park this weekend was a bog-standard looking burgundy coloured Corsa 1.2 which had a huge (i.e. filling the whole rear window) sticker saying '16 VALVE'.

Saw a Renault 5 with a GTi sticker like that at the Trafford centre the other day. Must have been a one off especially made job... Funniest one recently was the mk3 xr2i with an Escort Cosworth rear spoiler stuck on but with the central support half cut off.

By far my fav Nova was "Gaz's" 1L Nova still with its 993cc engine and standard gearbox but with the all important "Quad Conversion Afterburner Kit" and "Scooby bonnet vent fitted" (Its a 1L NOVA for god's sake) plus loads of other rubbish. Heres a direct link

Just going back to the original point about drinking, are you surprised? I know I would have to be pretty tanked up on Vodka to even go near a car like this.

I suppose they can blame the dogs they all seem to go out with on the booze as well.

unbelievable entertainment. Goto the home page and surf some of the other galleries - The plastic slapped on the once-pretty Calibras defies belief (as does the bloke who thinks he can get 170+ mph out of his 4x4 Turbo)

Glad someone else thinks Calibras are pretty, got shouted down in the pub for suggesting they outshine the Pug coupe in the style stakes. As for getting 170+ mph maybe if you pushed it over a cliff (not a bad idea now I come to think of it !)
Once knew a lad with a Metro who was convinced his mods had given the 1.4l 100bhp, strange then that I could blow him into the weeds in an unmodified Seat Ibiza. All the 'carbon fibre' detailing might have been weighing him down though

IMHO the unmolested Calibra is one of the best design/function compromises of modern mass-produced cars. Unfussy lines and the right balance of curves and linear planes.
Given the POS Cavalier that it was built around it managed to look the mutts nuts without the need for spoilers, airdams and 19 inch wheels.
Sadly it seems they're cheap enough to be brought by the "On A Mission" crowd... it can only go downhill from here.
