if i am well remembered, Audi had (another?) project about the revisited AutoUnion (very inspired in TypeD), much more interesting an ugly…
but where it is the V16????

anyway, i didn’t know that thing of the 10 years of aluminium body, Audi it’s always delayed…

The spider was better looking than the Avus, anyway. For my money (both pounds) it was better looking than the TT as well.

The thing about the great design of the Avus is ten years down the road and it still looks totally up to date and fresh , and much better looking than the VW supercar thing thats in the pipe line

i re-read this new, i didn’t understood that this Avus celebrates 10 years! i thought it was an recent project!! – and audi has now another concept car very close to the real TypeD.
and, R-Bin, in 30s AutoUnion fitted an urge v16 (5.6???) in their TypeD, and this car won a lots of GPs.
…and one of its few defeats occurred in GP Germany 1936 (?) where Tazio Nuvolari, in his morbid Alfa, won the race in front of Hitler and 300.000 more germans…

i've just chek a few sites and actually this Avus has 10 years, among some others interesting things:

Type: 60 valve, W12 (3 lines of 4 cylinders)
Displacement: 5998 cc
Max horsepower: 509 BHP at 5800 rpm
Max torque: 540 Nm at 4000 rpm
Bore / stroke: 84.5 / 88.5 mm
Performance
Fuel cobsumption: approx. 5 km/L
Acceleration - 0-100 km/h: 3.0 s
Top speed: 340 km/h
Engine placement: Center, longitudinally mounted
Drive wheels: Four wheel drive

what i don't know is if this Audi is something special in a track...

i was confunding this Avus with Audi's new project, Rosemeyer.
