Brit GP for the Chop?

British GP was never the same since it left Brands , ok Brands probably could never handle the numbers of people involved ....
I have been to the WSB for the last 3-4 years at brands Hatch and the volume of people on the Sunday in 1999 made it the biggest sports event that year. It was over 125,000 this year, even bigger than 1999.
Brands can handle the people, it's the pits that now lets Brands down as a venue and concerns over run off areas. If anything Brands probably handles that many people better than Silverstone from my experience.
Cheers

Mark, I think the problem here is the sheer size of the F1 'circus' itself. You have to wonder if it needs to be so vast.
Went out to the far end at Brands during practice for the last GP held there, and you could literally look into the cockpits of the cars. Sad, but those days are probably gone for ever.
P.S. The estimated loss was for EACH Grand Prix!

Rockingham is a cr*p circuit, talk to Steve Hislop about it. I doubt very much it would pass the safety regulations.
I used to be a real F1 fan but recent years it had just gone downhill. The introduction of traction control was just a nail in the coffin IMHO. To say F1 is supposed to be the pinical of motor racing is laughable. You get more exciting races at your local circuit.
F1 could be as good as BSB, WSB, or MOTOGP but technology has taken over. F1 needs a real shake-down, lets lose the automatics, lessen the effect of aerodynamics and get back to the driver, driving the car.

I think many peoples comments here reflect a similar feeling of the detachment of F1 from the fans.
I admire Schumi as a driver - his skill is unquestionable - but was extremely pi55ed of when he, Coultard & others tried to orchestrate a 'synchronised' start to the Monza GP.
I was pleased that Jaques Villeneuve remembered that ordinary fans had saved long & hard to buy tickets to see a RACE. And I was exstatic when Jensen Button completely ignored the whole 'agreement' and nearly made the best start of the year.
There is a very real danger that F1 could spend so much time with it's head up it's own ar5e, it will eventually dissappear up there!
