I had a test drive of the new Min, it's bloody great !!! could do with more power, but deceptively fast.

Wouldn't criticise it's FWD handling.

Ooops, sorry - bit off topic.

What's the expression?

"Front wheels are for steering, rear wheels are for driving, anything else is for shopping."

I reckon Lexus' (IS200) image is definately enhanced by having RWD. It makes it a viable alternative for someone who wants a "driver's car" but without the BMW badge which suffers from some undesirable driver stereotype problems. Not that I've driven an IS200 mind.

Lexus, I was thinking of image as a make rather than a model, seems to be all Qs....Quiet, Quality, Quirky (Coupe), Quick (to depreciate) and Quite unsuitable for anybody with an ounce of enthusiasm. But as I'd never be seen dead in one (unless they make a hearse) I'll never know if I'm wrong!

That V8 would do nicely for a kit car though.

I agree with Ian (McNab)about Jag image, still a bit vulnerable. I cut my teeth on hot Mk2s, rusty old XKs that cost less than their insurance and 3.8 E types, I tend to think of those models & C & D types when I get Jag lust rather than some of the poorly put together later models. They have done very well to pull back and re-establish a good reputation but need to take care. If the FWD model is reliable they will do well, if it does badly on the J D Power Index then they have a problem.

Ali D - Although Ford might loose a few V6 mundano sales to the FWD Jag, it's still ford sales (with higher profits!), and might well steal sales from traditional 318 buyers?

HELLO Mc Fly!

This is a Ford Mondeo. Mondeo factory, Mondeo workers, Mondeo engine, Mondeo chassis. Though I'm sure this won't stop the tide of sales reps and junior management rushing out to desperately put a better badge on the driveways of their Barrat homes.
