what is the best driving game ever?...............
Discussion
There are just too many to name - So here is my top 11 - all IMHO
10 - Pole Position (Arcade) - Fantastic moneywaster
9 - OutRun (Arcade) - The sit down version
8 - Stunt Car Racer (Amiga) - Weird but very cool
7 - Lotus Esprit Turbo Challenge (Amiga) - Nuff said
6 - Spy Hunter (Arcade) - Pure Class
5 - Grand Tourismo (PS1)
4 - Screamer 1,2 and Rally (Amiga / PC) - Near perfect physics engine (ie right blend of realism and fantasy for a game)
3 Joint - Super Hang On (Amiga / Arcade) Best motorbike race game ever
3 Joint - Carmageddon 2 (PC)
2 - Grand Theft Auto3 (PS2) - Simply stunning
1 - Supercars 2 (Amiga) - ok, not really a driving game per se, but the best game I have ever played involving cars...2 player wasted many an evening for me...
But the absolute winner

best game ever(in my humble opinion) is WRC on the PS2, got it for Xmas not really in to rally type games but this one is way better fun than GT3.
Also got Le Mans and whilst the circuit and racing is interesting the graphics are not much cop and the feel is poor.
Go buy a PS2 and WRC, here endeth the sermon according to bennno
As some people on here have already said, Grand Prix Legends is still in a different league to all the other games in terms of realism and actual 'feel' of being in a racing car.
400hp + no downforce + playing with a dodgy Joystick
= Much spinning.
I think if I had a steering wheel it'd be a bit easier. Plus you can get a copy for £5! Bargain.
CM2 is pretty satisfying when you get in the 'zone'.

Hello every one, up to the start of this month I was employed as as a games tester and set up person and also a network technician, so when I say that GT3 is good I think it is very good for the PS2 but of the PC it has to be Grand Prix Legends with all the latest up dates. This kind of came is for a the real hard cor games driver, the game has the best car phisics on the market but the cars are very hard to drive but good fun
At the moment I am very hocked on GT3, a top game
If any one want to contact me about GPL, please do
I know a phew good sites

Och - ye cannae keep a good man doon.. Hiya cambelt..
I haven't played all of the PS/PS2 driving games, and I don't get enough time to do so, but after reading the thread again I went back to GT3 on my PS2 with the Logitech Force-feedback kit and I had a whale of a time.. wifey not impressed
If you want a proper driving experience (video games wise anyhow) then get into GT3 with proper force-feedback kit, get the Tuscan and the Elise and turn off all the traction control rubbish..
FWIW I can't be arsed with games on PC.. too much bother with DirectX and video cards etc..

Glad to see that at least one person mentioned Revs on the BBC micro. It's only with the advent of games like GPL, TOCA and Colin McRae that, in my opinion, did we get some driving games on the PC that even approached the sort of realism that Revs offered.
One of Revs' best features? When playing using the keyboard, the space bar would double the rate at which the wheel would turn (great for turn in to slow corners), and if you held both left and right at the same time, it would hold the current steering lock for you. That way, it was possible to navigate around corners without the "never punted on the cam before" zig-zag effect that happens on any other keyboard based driving game.

Revs was written by a guy called Geoff Crammand. - IMHO it was the FIRST driving game worth playing. He went on the write Grand prix 1/2/3 etc, and the best was GP1. - I remember some great times with back to back PC's at work playing a whole GP season in a day! - brilliant. now who used to play Elite?
