i really wouldnt be happy with that mate. Id let the salesman know exactly how unimpressed I was. maybe get some kind of upgrade? Worth a try. Id like the 1st one too....nice bit of kudos...
It needs to be investigated at the highest level - a salesman lying to get a sale, whatever next! First we need to set up a Focus Group followed by a Steering Committee followed by a stint in the toilet until we get a White Paper on the subject. wink

i know it sucks, when he gave me this info, i turned to my wife with wide open eyes and said "ive gotta have this 1" the thought of having the 1st 1 was great and it sealed the deal for me. i was going for the 1.8 titanium when he spotted this zetec S and he said (to the word) "they are nearly finished making the first 1 in belgium which is destined for the uk, luckily its in the colour you want with the same wheels you want with all the bits and bobs plus more we cant get any pics or info on because they havnt issued them to us yet" which i believe was true because i checked for info on this model on fords site and it displayed no previews available. Now this is where im getting confused, two or three days ago a get a message of PH saying "new body styling revealed for the new zetecs s" and on the same day that i got this message i posted my first post and got a reply saying there is one outside some guys showroom?? I wouldnt have thought it would be outside a showroom on the same day that the first pictures were released to the genral public!! And why would they make me wait nearly a month if they are allready floating around, as you can see on the pic above ETA 15.11.08. and production finish date 31.10.08 Someone please fill me in, im not giving up hope yet!!!!hehe

how can they call it a zetec-s with a 1.6 engine.
Because it's a trim level dreamt up by marketing.

cancel your order, and get either the 1.8 you were going for or better yet a 2.0. how can they call it a focus zetec-s with a puny 1.6 engine in a biggish car. the mk5 fiesta zetec-s had a 1.6 which was the range topper. id much rather have a better engine than some fancy zetec-s trim.

I'm still struggling with the concept of the thrill of the "first" special edition of the most popular car on UK roads. Do you genuinely think (a) anyone will notice or (b)anyone will care - and I don't mean that in any disrespectful way or as detracting from your choice of car in any way but it's just a Focus. I mean I'm fairly knowledgable about cars but I wouldn't know if it was a new model or not.

To be fair the one that we have here (its inside our showroom now) is a 2.0 tdci zetec s in colarado red with some extras such as xenons, wrc pack, sport pack and privacy glass.

And this is the first one in the country mate as nobody else has one yet, but id be happy to sell it u if u fancy it?

Whilst I may agree with you on many counts, he's getting a new car, and he's chuffed with it - is there really any need to piss on the guy's bonfire?

Whoa, I'm not p*ssing on his bonfire. I've been excited by quite mundane cars myself including a brand new Visa D. I'm more interested in the rationale of buying a car based on having the "first" of a version of a best-selling car. Of course it is brilliant having a new car and I wouldn't take that away from anyone - but the underlining feature here is buying a car on the strength of a feature 99% of the population will not notice. Of course, he might have bought a Focus anyway but that isn't the point of the post.

Then again, I may be getting old. I do recall the Mk 1 Fiesta 1300S coming out around 1977 and me and ny friends were quite "excited" about that but back then buying a new car of any sort was far more unusual and an event in itself. It also had lots of sporty decals and a "big" 1300 engine long before the 1600 XR2 was ever thought of. Then again (again), just putting the Capri II in JPS colours was quite exciting back then but I'm not so sure it would be now?
