Are you refering the use of 8foot flame throwers that exit below the two front doors and bascially torching the intented car-jacker that the (SA) police approve the use of.
If only they would let us use them here.

Yep.. I'll bet carjackings went down a hell of a lot after that little law was passed......

My advice to all is simple, come to the continent and buy a (legal here) pepper spray and give the scroats an eyefull. I keep one in the car (also when in GB) and bugger the law!!!! Curiously a lot of my GB customers now have them...........

A guy a brought my car off last year does a lot of business in Europe and he had one of these cans at home. He was there one night when he heard is son outside screaming for help - he ran out with the can to see 3 kids kicking the crap out of his son. He used the pepper spray on them and they leg it. The same night 2 (yes 2) police cars came around arrested him and took him to the local station where he was treated very badly and spent the night behind bars. He's now going to court for GBH.

For F**ks sake Britains law is plainly wrong. Makes me sick (like that farmer in Norfolk)....

Arrrrhhhhhh

I always thought the criteria for GBH was that the injury caused should be significant or if permanant isn't it section 11 ??? GBH or something, whatever it sounds that a pepper spray only causes temporary incapacitation so GBH must be well over the top I would have expected common assault or ABH tops but lets be honest I would have hoped for a "quiet word" or "be more carefull" from plod. The sad bit is for a GBH charge he could actually get sent down.

I think pepper spray is classified as a firearm. I can sympathise with anyone who has one for protection but would urge all members not to risk collecting a 'possesion of a firearm' conviction - does not look good on a CV.

OK, if the pepper spray is illegal then chili powder in a paper carton/drum (flip-off top) as sold in any high street shop cannot possibly be illegal?? or can it under these wimp pinko leftist limp-wristed C**ts in POWER now!!!! BLiar is a good name for that pratt.... I'm ashamed to say he was educated at the same school as I.
Rant over... heading for the dugout......and hoping that a carjacker wants to take it up with my .45 Magnum 5-shot Cassul......

this is undoubtedly a national disgrace - I'd reckon that the scrotes went and told the pigs that they'd not been doing anything wrong and the police must be expected to investigate when a child makes an accusation of being pepper sprayed by an adult.

It would be my hope that when it came to court it would be thrown out, though it is disappointing that the coppers didn't see the whole thing for what it was and use some discretion.

FWIW, it seems (WRT Tony Martin case) that they have a very similar problem in New Zealand:www.ssanz.org.nz/articles/selfdppp.html

The subject of weapons - with regard to the law - is very tricky. In theory, anything used to threaten or attack someone is a 'weapon'.

Now the fact that you might have a wheel wrench in the car is understandable whilst driving with a meat cleaver stashed in your door pocket is less so!

Guns, real, replica, or even the Toys R Us variety will all generally be treated similarly with regard to threatening their use. In the past Police Officers have shot 'armed' supects who were only tooled up with toy guns - so be warned.

There MUST be some changes to the law - soon. The current system has loopholes big enough to drive, well, a stolen car through! Plod should be incentivised to pursue these people, and the law should be equiped with sufficient teeth to send the scum down.

Noticed last week some scrote got 4 years for beating and robbing a guy for a mobile phone , about time they started dishing some stiff poridge out.

And on the replica gun thing , there was a guy shot dead by the old Bill a couple of years ago because he had a lighter shaped like a pistol and was just lighting a ciggie , well smoking kills as they always tell us

A Banana was classified as an offensive weapon in a court case and the guy got 2 years or so...

What really me off is that it is illegal guns that criminals use, the licensed gun owners don't tend to use them for robberies for obvious reasons...
And the crims keep getting them, and Joe Public cannot defend against them..

That New Zealand article at least highlights that they can defend themselves as they see fit. We can't...

Slightly off the subject of Bashing people up ....
I am sure a colleague of mine had a "Car Jacking" device fitted to his car a few years ago. I think it works off a seperate remote control (or I think you have to press a special code in before you start up the car). If this isn't done, or the device is activated, then the car is allowed to travel a set distance (say 200yds) before the engine shuts down, lights flash randomly, and the the alarm is activated. I'll make some enquiries about where you can get them fitted - don't think they're cheap though.

A friend of my girlfriends wen't down for a few months (GBH) for glassing someone in a pub with no good reason. Fair enough - he deserved the punishment thoroughly. But to label someone and bang 'em up with GBH for self defence using pepper spray is bollox! What do the powers that be expect you to do? Smack them with a daffodil?

Police here in NZ can use Pepper spray and citizens can't. IIRC every police oficer gets the oppertunity to have it tried out on him/her.

A last year the police used it on a disturbed individual (far more preferable than a gun see
www.nzherald.co.nz/storyqueryprocess.cfm?searchtext=wallace&thesection=
www.nzherald.co.nz/storydisplay.cfm?thesection=news&thesubsection=&storyID=148080)

But unfortunately the guy IIRC had a heart attack and died
Just thought you may consider that before using pepper spray, you may be unlucky and be up for manslaughter not just GBH.

cheers and
Dean

A previous car I had was fitted with a Clifford alarm with 'blackjax,' just let the scrotes take the car, and it will cut out about 30secs after they touch the brakes. Don't know if the theivings sh!ts know how to get around it though.

I have a 6 cell MAG-LITE in my car. Redefines the expression 'torching' something (or somebody).

I posted this yesterday, but my server was playing up and it vanished, so here goes again....

I think I'll start keeping a fire extinguisher in the passnger footwell - getting a face-full of foam would certainly dampen their spirits Or get a CO2 extinguisher - frozen eyeballs would keep the scrotes out of trouble for a while

I wonder what might happen if you 'conveniently' had one of those gruesome nail-gun things to hand in the car?

Anyone care to hazard a guess how the law would view it? Obviuosly, personally having publicly suggested this, I can not now 'coincidentally' carry such a thing in my car!

Wheel brace is good.
Crooklock good, Stoplock too heavy!
Screwdrivers are also legitimate accessory in car - from when you fitted that new CD player.......
Fireextinguisher, err, not sure about that.
"Supersoaker" water gun, with Tobasco chill sauce would also be legal and effective.

I was thinking about the armoured glass - bit nasty if you have a smash, get knocked out, and the emergency services can't get you out ??

Having said that, I will be getting my windows tinted & strengthened just in case. Not that many people would nick my car???

Bikes are different - although exposed, you tend to be looking out for old Bill all the time anyway, so more alert.

Actually, the police encourage you to carry a fire extinguisher in the car - Halfords sell the complete with mounting kits for the passenger footwell - many say Police approved

When I was in L.A. last year (what a top way to start an anecdote ) there was a news item on the tv about an 75yr old Phillipino gentleman who was driving along in his shiny new pickup truck and he stopped to pick up a young man who was hitch-hiking. After they'd gone a short distance the young man puledl out a pistol and told the old man he was going to rob him of his vehicle.

Unfortunately it turned out that the old man had previously been Ferdinand Marcos' head of security. The hijacker had to be taken to hospital with a gunshot wound to his shoulder, and multiple head injuries where he'd been pistol whipped.
