RE: Official Pics: TT RS

Finally. After god know how long they've made the TT into the car it should've been.
First it look good but handled like turd and was as slow as fk.
The they sorted the handling.
Now they've given it the power it should have and the noise with what will be a nice warble.
Taken them long enough.
No longer a TiT but now a car with street cred. Pity it will have to work hard to shake the TiT image.

Hmmm... £43k, that's awfully close to base spec 911 territory in the grand scheme of things. Just thinking about it, surely anyone with that sort of cash to throw around on a new sports coupe would be silly not to look at the Porsche offerings - I'll take a Boxster S & a holiday thanks awfully.

The coupe looks good, the roadster is a bit maxpower... However £43k for a TT!!!
hahahahah £43K for a TT. Makes the Ford RS look like a bargain? My question is, which "quattro" system? I'm thinking now we're north of 300bhp it could do with something better than the usual haldex jobbie normally fitted to A3/Golf format cars. Lets see a the RS4's 60/40 rear bias system please. Really can't see it though, in which case is it really an RS?
No!
WOW £43k? Hairdressers must be earning well during the recession?!
The words 'second hand skyline' echo for me. Gorgeous car though and great figures- just wouldn't own one! Will be interested to hear of how 'exciting' it is to drive. The new ones do seem to get better reviews than old. For that cost it should be.

Audi launches a £43k version of a £25k car. So instead of a Cayman or Boxster which will drive rings around it or (most of) an M3 whose performance (and pedigree) would crush it, Audi is hoping someone will give up 43 large for a few extra hp, chav-tastic bodykit, and some RS badges.
Don't they know that the TT's main demographic - estate agents - really aren't in a position to be buying £40k motors? What next, an RS-badged A2 for £35k? Maybe the credit crunch doesn't exist in Audi-land...

Its £20k cheaper than the most basic of 911s, without essential/desirable kit.As an AWD alternative to a Cayman/Boxster it makes sense to me. I like it.
People buy for all sorts of reasons and even if you are a car nut - if you need 4 seats and are looking for a £40K ish car - the Boxster/Cayman don't do it.
I know there are arguements for 2nd hand etc. but if you want a new car in this price range, it makes a decent case for itself.
That said, whilst I wouldn't buy one, my wife might.....

Drop the 4WD system and make it RWD and I can imagine it being quite a lot of fun to drive.
That said, is it just me or does sticking the letters 'RS' on the back of a cabriolet seem wrong?
Spot on. It's the only way they will ever be interesting to drive. That said, is it just me or does sticking the letters 'RS' on the back of a cabriolet seem wrong?

If I had circa £45k to spend on a soft top it would be a Boxster S and if I decided to go for a coupe it would either be a Cayman S or a 370z and a track day toy with the change.
I like the TT, looks good and drives well from most reports but that one is just too much money.

...lets wait and see what its like to drive before we slate it.
we moan at Audi because the TT is too soft etc..and when they bring a very fast, focused edition, we still moan.....
Agreed - the TTS is a very good car. If this turns out to be a focussed bit of kit with the proper 60/40 split 4wd and approaching 50bhp more than a Coxster or Gayman S - then it could be a big hit and IMO more on a par with the 911 at a discount albeit without the same image. we moan at Audi because the TT is too soft etc..and when they bring a very fast, focused edition, we still moan.....
However it is does turn out to be dull and lifeless with just lots of grunt then let it flop.
