Lots of good information here:

There's also a sticky subject at the top of this forum.

rs-ajp is the only thing I use now, however that was interesting to read re the TVR software working on Win 10, I'll probably try that at some point smile
Thanks Duncan, I'm sure I've read just about every thread going, in the SP6 forum, Cerbera, Tuscan and T350/Tamora/Sagaris forums etc. (well a damn lot of them anyway!). The cable linked in the RS-AJP sticky uses a Prolific PL2303HX chipset - Whilst I've not bough that exact cable, I have bought a PL2303HX chipset device (USB to 'flying leads') which should (should, should?, should!) just work - but it doesn't for some reason. Whilst I do realise that a chipset is a chipset is a chipset, I do also realise or suspect that not every chipset is attached to the extra components in the same way, but if a device claims to be RS232 compatible and uses the same chipset, it should work shouldn't it?

The TVR software has features that Evo Olli's software doesn't - I've not yet managed to play with RS-AJP - I don't even know if my phone will support it, so my first goal is to get either of the other software programs running via USB and not serial as I have them now.

Ref getting the TVR software running on Win 10 - has to be the 32 bit version - the command I noted above won't run on a 64 bit version (at least not on mine!). My Linx tablets are happily 32 bit versions of Win 10 and that's what I'd like to get it running on.

I tried several cheap generic USB Serial adaptors, none of which worked, because I'm cheap

In the end I relented and bought the Plugable branded PL2303HX Rev D cable that Aide recommended, which was £12 at the time

Now they're £24, ouch

It's most likely the serial to usb lead, Prolific chipset is required, this one is known to work.

I had tried a couple I already owned at home before buying the right one.

From the other thread - £10 and known to work smile

I have the same problem - my laptop is 64 bit and I prefer the laptop for setting up the engine. I've been developing a windows 64 bit app, in the same mould as the original TVR software. It's not quite ready for publication yet, but hopefully (time permitting) I'll make it available to the community by the end of the year.

You may be able, depending on your cpu, to run a 32 bit windows 10 virtual machine on your 64 bit OS

This looks ace smile

I'll be honest though and say I can't think of a reason to use a big clunky laptop, over a smartphone/tablet, with rs-ajp?

I'm a bit of an rs-ajp fanboy smile

Thanks - I ordered that one - and another one I'd seen recommended (https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0753HBT12) but now can't find from where - and yes, the Sabrent one (you linked to) does work but so does the Benfei one I linked - but and there is a but - the Benfei one works with Evo Olli's software and has issues with the TVR software - it can log into the ECU but can't read the fuel maps for some reason - so that ones going back and I'll stick with the Sabrent one.

But - my issue still stands:

I'm stuck on finding a suitable USB to RS232 adaptor. I would prefer not to have it go to a 9 pin D cable/plug but instead would prefer that it simply ends in 'pins' so I can wire it into my 3 pin plug that directly interfaces with the Tuscan's wiring loom.
Yes, I can live with a multi part cable, but I'd prefer to be able to make a 1 piece cable.

I also have OTG USB C adaptors on order so once they arrive, I'll see if the RS-AJP will work on my Android phone - it doesn't on my old Android phone but that's probably down to the Android OS version it is running.

Think I need to spend time on RS-AJP.

Tbh, I don't use it anymore, my Cerbera is sorted.

First step, get it compiled and availiable on the play store.
