Had enough of being reasonable and offering compromises. Now with solicitors who will take things as far as required with whoever is necessary to recover as much as possible. A matter of principle for me now.

Not sure exactly what is going on here, but something to do with making it better!

A quick update on the condition of the engine as described by TVR Power:

- heavily warn finger followers
- pistons partially seized
- liners dropped
- head gasket failure

Summarised as 'we have never had a speed 6 engine with so many mechanical failures at such a low mileage'

Plus of course the melted Cats....

On the plus side the chassis looks great...

Sorry!

Been keeping an eye on this, and feel for you. Massively st situation, I hope you can get some decent 'compensation' through the now required channels.

Skimming the head face of the block to get it flat by the looks of it!

Yep.. Looks like the block's mating face may not have been flat for some reason.

Surely they are seized or not? Kind of like being partially dead?

Partially seized, aka sticking.

Good luck with everything - hope it all works out for you.

Dom always skims the block as part of a rebuild - walk away if ur proposed engine builder says its not necessary !

Sorry to hear of your woes englishman. As a previous cerbera owner, i sympathise with you, and i hope you get it all sorted soon. Keep thinking of the day when the car is fixed and its yours to drive. Chin up

And if you put a gauge across the block in multiple places with no difference would you still skim it.

Your in good hands at TVR Power, they will build you a good reliable engine and you are on the way to having a cracking Cerbera.
Here's hoping you manage to get some money out of the fecker who sold it to you like that to cover the rebuild. The worry is that he doesn't pay up once found guilty!!.

It will help to provide a fresh cross hatched mating face which will improve the chances of a good seal wink

Hi

He has already tried to claim its his company fault, and he is just an employee. So I have reissued my claim against his company! (His wife name is down as head of the company)
I am expecting them to liquidate the company and there will not be any assets to be liquidated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So unless the courts see through the crap and go for his throat then David and myself may not get anything but bills for our legal side of things!

And who inspected it...I'd sue him as well!
On what grounds!
The car drove well and he did point out in his report that he felt it needed to be serviced etc!
The garage who did that for David is the one who needs to be looked at!

Hope you both gain some redress.
This s6 engine was always likely to need a rebuild with such low miles, such little history and with such a strange history of garages trying to sell it for so long. But the fake warranty is taking the pee. You paid top dollar and so should expect recompense.

Hi

I completely agree the S6 engine was always going to be the weak point in the car! If I had finialised the deal before David I was going to have it taken by trailer strait to Mat Smith Sport cars for him to strip the head off the car and give it an inspection!

The warranty is not fake, the man just took Davids money and didn't pay the warranty company!
But like all warranty/insurance companys if there is a get out they will use it. So in Davids case, they didn't get the money, plus the can claim the car already had this fault when the warrantee/insurance was taken out, so the fault is not covered!

Assuming it is the original engine and not a buggered one that was swapped in at some point so that the original, mint one could be sold separately for a tidy profit.

Sadly, punters like this usually have a long track record and structure life so they never pay back what they have taken.

Takes some believing the car has only done 900 miles and the followers are worn! Are they made of lead or has the mileage been tampered with? Rather than spend on the s6 I'd have been tempted to go the whole hog and go down the route of a 4.7ajp making a very special brand new cerbera

Now this could explain a lot of thngs and I would not put it past them to have done it! But I also don't think they would have the brains to think of that!
