Pay peanuts ... employ monkeys!
i know some very good techs myself included with 30 years in the trade and they are all on peanuts
and id put some of my peanuts on it that all the techs in your super tvr indies are also on the same said nuts
just because you pay lots of cash for your service dont mean the tech gets it all there is a lot of dead wood in this trade that seem to be better paid very ill informed statement i think

The point is that if you take a cross section of those who work for said establishments and compare them with employees of more specialised establishments you'll get a very quick understanding of the different levels of experience and competence that your vehicle will be subject to. At least with your fellow Merc trained techs they've got a meaningful piece of paper that indicates a level of competence.
I'm not too sure that's a requirement to work in other places.
A good monkey doesn't need to be paid peanuts, they'll know their worth and be able to show that to others in the industry. Then they can get a proper job and be paid in bananas.
I'd rather pay a recommended tech to fix my car any day of the week, particularly when it comes to electrics.
These things are just too expensive when something gets fubared.

Nuff said.
Anyway, where are the mods on this topic?
Someone dared to mention the name of a business!

Do you employ someone to press the black button for you, Russ?
Don't mind driving it mate.... It's the rest of the faffing, I can't be doing with Thanks for the offer Pirate. I can fit it myself to be fair, I mess about with low voltage stuff at work. For the sake of £5 at Halford's or somewhere, I thought I'd let someone else get their finger nails dirty

I pay someone to valet it as well, as I can't be arsed cleaning it either.
Well, I made the mistake of doing this during August, getting a supposed specialist to do a quick interior hoover, and then a proper outside job. Namely a wash, and full wax on the exterior. It cost me £35, and the idiot obviously spent far too much time masturbating over how beautiful the car is, because the w**ker didn't pay attention & ended up putting fine swirl scratches into the bonnet. He obviously used a dirty cloth when drying the car after the wash, & didn't notice until it was too late. Worst thing is he didn't tell me, and I didn't notice until it caught the sun a few days later, after which I knew he'd deny it as I couldn't prove anything.
It took me 2 lots of 2 hours to fully cut & polish the damage out, and I'll NEVER use anyone else to clean my baby again.
