Out of interest is the car still able to be under the DVLA as a Cerb.

I thought there was a complicated system of points involving the frame, engine and running gear, and less than eight points the car required to be a Q plate?

Yep thought so. I could be wrong but I think you'll need to Q plate it, or try and stay within the guidelines, or just never sell it.

If it is going to be road legal, and the process followed to the letter, it would be a "Q" plate.

Just popped over from the Tuscan page.

I do like these threads, some people like concours with all the original features, others like modifying them to suit their needs. I wonder how many original cars there are with original paint, original carpets, non modified items like cold start, suspension bushes, brakes, suspension and original stereos. When we buy these guys we buy them, someone sold them and they are not on loan. When we crash some are repaired, some are written off and provide spares for someone else (what has happened to the original engine here?) bit like organ donation if you ask me?

Can't we just agree to disagree here.

As an engineer I'll tell you what I think , I think this is a masterpiece of engineering, the level of detail and commitment to bring a project to life like this is not to be underestimated. It is up to him as an owner to choose to do what he wants, I am thrilled he has shown it to us, it won't appeal to the purists but it is still a TVR in my opinion. The reason - was the Griffith with a V8 not a TVR that we all swoon over now. There will always be a place for the perfect historical piece but also for the modified ones as well.

I would rather see this than see a car in a field rotting to death, how many TVR's are Sorn'd at the moment? How many are missing? How many are in car collection not turning a wheel? Can't wait to see this destroy much more expensive cars at the track.

Got to go now.......

yesterdays task picking up the majority of the running gear to complete the rolling chassis still lots to fabricate not least of all the wishbones and ARB`S, missing is the rack which most likely is going to be a triton unit just waiting for the costing on the right hand drive version, been sorting the rest of the cerb bits i still have in stock to make room for all this heavy duty gear.

Great project. Look forward to seeing it start to come together. Would like to have a 2nd cerb and turn it into a super car slayer albeit suspect this will be a bit extreme for popping down the shops.

well after a good weekend at the cla gamefair back down to fabricating the turret for the front chassis stiffening, it has to be removable so to this end i am machining up the tube joiners to weld into the ends of the tube to allow removal, not a good day belt on the mill stripped itself dont make them like they used to its only lasted about twenty years, then the sudds pump packed up so had to plumb in a central heating pump to sort that so hopefully better day tomorrow, the tube all turned up for the reast of the chassis work and all the tube for the suspension wishbones.

Now thats what I like to see, a mill, and swarf. Put your garage up for the best garage thread. I'd vote for it based on being tired of people posting garages with carpets on the floors or disco lighting, with no chance of even changing a wheel.

been hard at it for the last couple of days managed to finish all the machining to the turret tube fixing points to allow it to be removed for engine work etc.all the tubes have been faced off in the lathe to ensure square fitting off the ends, the two main stress tubes taking the upward force from the damper mounts and transfer it back towards the rollcage and the central fixing tube are all in place and welded, the mounts for the four other legs two for dampers and two for the front wishbone mounts are all made and welded fit those tomorrow, the tig welding is not my tidiest getting used to the new machine by the end of the day on the last four tubes much better.

Is your thermostat housing being modded or just fitted this way around? as i beleive the thermostat is designed to face one way only.
