I see you've posted several times saying that... boring. This is a forum for cerbera owners talking about cerberas.

Correct me if I'm wrong but the author of this piece has also commented on Chimaera, Tamora, and Speed Six threads, which by his own logic he should not go near.
Come on dannylt, if you have this cosy little world where only Cerbera owners have a right to comment on Cerberas etc. we may as well all give up now. Controversy, opinions, experience, disagreement and debate are what keeps this together and allows us all to learn from each other. Please do not try to turn each topic into some sort of elitist thing. I did used to own a Cerbera so I hope it is OK to contribute to this debate.
p.s. jellison may have a point.

Err, sorry, that didn't come across how I meant. What I meant was, this jellison guy had been posting in several places saying how crap tvr were, or how the engines were useless - i.e. generally not that interesting. Like going on to any marque's site, and saying it's all shit - not very interesting. Anyway, he's wrong

Cerbera Owners Talking about Cerbera's - Hmm where does it say that! Doesn't take much to wind you guys up. And for your info I have had several TVR's. And don't kid yourself that they don't go wrong. Not when researching into getting one and then deciding against it. I really like my Chimera 500 (but does run out of puff abit in the higher gears). And Mr Ruf is Right, I think anyone can post on the page! The comments I made are generally aimed at people owning a car out of warranty - when judging by the conversations and number of posts I've had / read put me off getting one.
You are judging by the info sheet in possesion of a warranty - so in thoery do not have to worry when it goes pop - just put yourself in the psition of a 4 year old owner and having to lash out 8k on a rebuild.
One last thing - on a track you would Loose.....

Jon - you're obvioulsy a trackmeister (so I respect your experiences thereon) and yes, Cerbera drivers, probably like those behind the wheel of a prancing horse, share an 'interseting' - usually similar - ownership experience!
I don't think you can be overly critical of their/our passion for this quintessentially, very Bristish creation - it emotes with a real passion - and that, IMHO, is no bad thing.
I think the reliability thing probably has been done to death but what I would like to ask is, against what exactly would a Cerbera (and which model in particular) lose?
P.S. I'd agree with your assessment of the top end 'breathlessness' (a Griff, breathless? my God, talk about all things being relative!) of the 5.0 Griff/Chimp application [I found the same thing with the 4.5 Chimp when 'pressing on'] BUT in the AJP Cerby?
I'd seriously have to question this point - the manic, blood-curdling scream and phenomenal urge of this baby at REALLY high revs and speeds is unquestionably enough to place it squarely in the pantheon of heroic pshyco motors. When you can mix it with the big bikes at over 150 you know it can tango, end of story!

Well Jellison, that was somewhat more intersting than just a post stating "all cerbera engines are made out of jelly"... It was just not useful, and clearly inflammatory, that's all.

As for LOSING on track (not LOOSING)... well, as I'm sure you're aware, that's down to a driver as well as the car - what's your point anyway? You driving your chimaera would be faster than you driving my Cerbera? I very much doubt it!

I was only writing all this as I was and still am interested in getting one - I won't be running one other wise. But until I can get a late model 4.5 with a warranty won't be getting, and the 500 is still pretty quick. Will let you know my views on one in next month or so when Tony lets me have a go! I sure is is about similar to a current 911 Bi-Turbo. Bike over 150 Hmm not tried that but a 916 could not loose me up to 120ish this morning (km/hr obviously!). No more talk on Cerb engines then - at least until I get bored of 500 and start looking for 4.5 Cerb again.

Danny, get back to work. You've still got 15 hours to go today.

Unless you're now coming at the weekend to see my wheelbarrow?

I think you mean Defamatory! - and I doubt it very much.

And Yep it is down the driver - trust me you would loose. Especially in equal machinery....

Come watch some racing on the 3rd Aug at Snett.

No, I think he meant what he said, i.e. deliberately provocative.

And my dad's bigger than your dad.

If I come this weekend, it will only be to drive my souped up cerbie around the outside of your wheelbarrow :-)

3rd Aug!! Nice spec on it but I'd rather spend that kind of cash on a racer.

Jellison - sorry, I was talking to Andrew not you... didn't the wheelbarrow give it away? I don't doubt you're quicker on track, seeing as you've spent a whole lot more time on it!

But please learn to use "lose" rather than "loose"...

Danny - don't suppose you kept the 4 pots when you had the Bonkers brake conversion, not for the wheelbarrow!

Funnily enough, I do still have the front AP 4-pots. I'd sold them to somebody for £250, but they changed their mind. Let me know if you want them, otherwise I'll leave them round at Joospeed as a general spare to lend people.

Cheers Danny - I'll contact Joolz and see if the spacing is suitable for what I need. I was going to fit some AP CP5000 to the TR over the winter but with 300mm solid rotors (so I can still run in the Thouorghbred Championship). They should be similar, even if they need splitting down the middle and skimming the two halfs to run a non vented disc. And will check with Tweeks the cost of 2x CP's to see if worth doing it this way.

Ta muchly

I'm currently trying to explain to Mrs Imelda why an upgrade to the supercharged model would be a better investment than an extension to the house.

I've told her that the addition of a downstairs thunderbox and an extra bedroom will not allow the house to do 0-60 in 3.8 seconds, but apparently thats not the point.

I don't think I understand women.

Why, you planning to drive in the kitty litter in your rolly poly mobile?

Imelda - I've seen one of the Marcos Rcaers fitted with this blower when at Pembrey recently - engine seemed huge even disregarding the blower. I'm sure its light though - better in this than a Mustang GT though - it would be truely NUTS.

My 500 would be alot more rolly poly than dannys motor,
hence don't think I'll be bothering with track days. Racing more FUN.
