Has anyone had experience of a large crack appearing at the top corner (driver's side) of their Cerbera's windscreen? I took the car out for a spin on Saturday (putting my foot down here & there), came home, parked it on the drive and found the crack a few hours later. There is no stone chip on or near the crack and the crack is so large that it would have been unmissable when I was in the car. Assuming that there has been no 'foul play', are there any natural explanations? Next question: How much is a new screen? (wince)

..free if you make a small "stone chip" with a nail before ringing your insurer. theoretically of course....

seriously. I've had this on a BMW. It's due to the windscreen not being fitted exactly central in the seals so that it almost (or does) have solid contact with the surround. Then when the surround expands and contracts in the heat or just vibrates in normal driving conditions the windcreen moves slightly and the minut pressure point cracks it. In your case heat differnce probably helped it - hencce the crack when you returned. Modern normal cars with fully bonded screens wont to this (without a stone chip) because they're so well held.
But dont tell the insurer this, they'll claim its the manufacturers liability. Use that nail......

Tks for the reply: Not a bad suggestion. Luckily the car's still under warranty, so I'll have a word with the dealer.
