Got round to fitting new indicator to replace my faulty O/S 10 LED side repeater. Like for like and looking great. Then managed to book in with Dave the Trimmer for a new red alcantara steering wheel retrim with contrast flush mount centre strip.
Now it's for Dom to give me a date for my upgrades and an mot
On Saturday I braved the ice on my 595 semi slicks and got safely to Powers for the update. I look forward to seeing what I get back. Now it's for Dom to give me a date for my upgrades and an mot
Sunday actually, but tried and failed to fit some sport tail pipes in place of my rattling standard back box. . . it appears my late 4.2 has a 4.5 exhaust! The pipes are currently winging their way from whence they came to be 'adjusted' (which they offered to do FoC - which is nice).
Fitted LED sidelights so they match the HID's, looks so much better now.
Also swapped some wires around behind the stereo so I can use the handsfree. Callers could hear my voice, but I couldn't hear them so that's been rectified. However, while pulling on a cable, I smashed the plastic mount I was using for the galaxy S3. Figured while the stereo was out, I'd fit the DAB aerial - I now get crystal clear radio.....as long as it picks up a signal.....which is not very often. Dunno why I bothered.

Started it UP! Been lurking like a bandit last few months with nothing to add Feeling left out....
So out she came, started first time, everything working including the ice detector light! All nice and hot
and up and down the drive a few times cue cheesy grin and something to write!
Of course, I then cocked it all up and reversed over the plastic wheel chock........
Cerebra 1: Wheelchock nil....
Sticky.

It would probably work a lot better if mounted on the car but clearly that's not going to happen. I was a bit surprised just how poor the reception is even if I wave it around. Have made sure it's properly grounded and getting 12V for the built in booster.
Best thing to do is get a stereo with Bluetooth, pair phone with it and use Radio app on phone. Perfect radio, all the time (plus anything else from your 'phone). Sworn at it. A lot. Still, new (to me) exhaust manifolds are in and still have some DIY thermal coating from these guys on them, and after seeing a photo of a Cerb with 2x big radiator fans instead of the usual 1x thick 1x thin fan arrangement I've done the same. Its fine in the UK, however some 35-40 degree days in southern Germany and France last summer, particularly climbing hills on Route 500 and Route Napoleon whilst stuck behind slow traffic, led me to the conclusion that it wouldn't take much more as the temps were hovering around 100 Dec C. Given that the coolant system runs at 1.5 bar I'd got about 12 degrees to go until it boiled over but I'd like more of a safety margin, so swapping the small fan out for another large fan should give me an extra several hundred CFM. For anyone else that wants to do the same some cutting of the body is required. At this point it occurs to me that I should have taken some photos, but on my car the radiator rests in a small cradle, for want of a better word, and the rear of the cradle on the drivers side is build up higher than the left as it doesn't need to accommodate a large fan, some of this needed trimming away to fit the deeper fan and then covering in fiberglass epoxy to seal it up. After that the radiator dropped in as easy as normal.

I really don't think a bigger fan is necessary Will. If the coolant is not moving the biggest fan in the world won't make a difference.
An electric water pump, whose speed is controlled by coolant temperature as opposed to engine speed, solves this.
I have standard fans and a std rad - coupled with an EWP - and it's been 100% fine for the past 4 years.
Cooling is no longer an issue anymore.

Got ass dropping news. Beginnings of big failure in factory rebuild/recall (Mr Abbots old car)
As update was to begin it's been deemed "not cost effective" oil is being pissed from all over and the update and dyno run could blow it and deffo ruin the dyno so Dom wouldn't even do it.
Oh well I asked for my options... after weighing them up I've consented to
Powers 4.5 Super Sport (with lightend flywheel etc)
AK MBE (even later model as new stuff out) more bells and whistles than santas sleigh from what doms been telling me it's NASA spec
Ceramic coating of manifolds/mounts/decat pipes
All new heat shielding to make McLaren proud
Now to have it run in and mapped by the time the LE cars land
