Hopefully ADAC will pay all expenses, otherwise whats the point in having it. That's poor
I haven't had to use my AA breakdown as yet, but at £70 it's good insurance, considering when I checked it was £300 to be recovered to Calais and then they might not let you on the train.
Car now back and parked up at STR8SIX, I will go up there tomorrow and replace the whole master cylinder rather than mess around with the spring and seals.

Hopefully back to being thrashed in the afternoon.

Picked it up after a 12k and MoT. Then detailed it ahead of applying the Le Mans livery in the morning (apologies for the 90 degree angle!)

I've started on the gearbox

This is what it will look like when I remove if from the car, meanwhile I'm working on the spare box

I have a bunch of parts I've brought back from the US, but I've just ordered fifty quids worth of Timken bearings off eBay, I'm broke this month too - oh well...

So the "can't be arsed" attitude is normal and not just reserved to this time. The woman from the ADAC was very apologetic and implied they have real problems when they have a call out in Belgium.

Oh well the car will be home in a couple of weeks and the very widely available seals will be replaced for the huge cost of £1.04 for the set.
¨
You should've contacted me! smile
If anyone ever comes ever to Belgium, please feel free to ask for my number.
I know quite a few places that work on tvr's/have parts. I still have a few parts myself and I'm always happy to help.
Noted, cheers

Replaced the driver's door window felt runners with new ones from RaceTech - a very reasonable £4.50 per door and easy to cut with some sharp scissors if you use the original ones as templates

Note they 'fold in' much tighter to the same width as the old ones size, even though they look much wider in the photo below...

Then took the Cerb for a drive in sunny London smile

Gearbox nearly reassembled with all new bearings and synchros etc, but fifth gear is proving troublesome as I don't have access to a press.

Here's the all new Indian made '070' countershaft costing just $100

I'm saving the original countershaft for my other box which I am intending to be a Heavy Duty box, but this won't be straightforward to build.

Many thanks Peter, much appreciated - but I've just ordered 1.5m of steel tube which I'm hoping will enable me to fashion a DIY hydraulic press.

Bored these AN -6 -to- M12x1.0 adapters out to 8mm to convert the bulkhead fuel pipes to JIC so that I can fit decent fuel lines. Haven't had to disturb the olives as these are the same thread as the OE female fitting.

And painstakingly filed the barb off the return pipe on the regulator to convert it to AN -6, now fitted with an olive type hardline fitting.

Just the cooler to convert now... wobble

Found out why Fifth Gear failed

Exactly as predicted by CerbWill

Cerclip failed, gear rode up the mainshaft, and then the conclusion was inevitable

I bought some new numberplates after popping in to see the car mid prep for painting. Seemed a shame to put the old tatty ones back on

I fitted Fifth Gear, with my GF's help

It took all my weight on the bottle jack's arm to generate the force needed, which was several times more than I've ever needed to lift a car.

It seems to be a very very close interference fit

So now I have the rebuilt box almost ready to fit, and the recently failed box, with fifth gear removed, ready for a rebuild

Refitted my speedo and rev counter after a little trip to speedycables.

Sent off on 13th March, returned 16th June.

Speedo still doesn't work, looks like I'm changing the speed sensor next - Sorry Richard from HHC, I know you said change that first, but I was convinced the whack from the hammer had knacked it. frown
