Blummin' 'Eck !
Having reached 12 years /100K miles my drivers seat has collapsed beyond usable.
No problem, thought I, I will just swap passenger seat for driver's whilst I get it rebuilt !
What a fool !
The lever to lean the back of the seat is of course on the opposite side
and there is far too little space for the lever and the seatbelt buckle to occupy the same space #BrokenBack No.1.
No problem, thought I, as I had bought a pair of replacement Series I seats quite a few
years ago, just in cases.
What a fool !
The replacement seats didn't have seat rails fitted
So
Never-to-perturbed, I thought, OK, no p-robs, I'll just swap the rails over
What a fool !
Don't know if you've ever messed around with these babies but, considering how flimsily the
frames are constructed, the design of subframe construction is totally geared to assembly and
not Dis-.
I have been wielding the bloody thing around, trying to undo the blind nuts retaining the frames
whilst peeling the leather off the various parts of the subframe.
It's murder !
#BrokenBack No.2.
I'm off to take a cold beer to a hot bath and attempt to recover.
You can Laugh !

Well, The irresistible force won !
Having mounted the whole job on a table, in an effort to stop
my back breaking, it turns out that the dome-head bolts
that affix the rails to the seat base are welded to the rail
and you have to go inside the seat bolsters to get to the 13mm
locknuts.
Without upholstery tools I found this close to impossible
without damaging the leather.
However....
The next twit who says that BlackBeauty© is unloved is
gonna get a flicked ear !

.... (almost) promise that this is the last entry for this service
BUT
Checked the spring length on the ProTechs as I thought she had been dragging her arse since last year's service.
Turned out they were all over the shop so I adjusted them to 42mm front and 33mm rear - just to keep the numbers the same as the offset (which I hope will help me to remember what they were).
Lookin' forward to seeing if there's a discernable driving difference.
(Many thanks to Jools and Dad for the Tools)
Gonna organise that MOT this week.
Wish me lick

I removed the brake pads and fitted some neoprene pads to the back of them in an effort to stop the break squeal I have. I noticed that when removing the off side front wheel that the front caliper bolts were loose and the caliper was moving which wouldn't have helped with squeal or safety so sorted that. Just need to test it when it stops raining and see if it has sorted the squeal.

You can usually hear a clunk when parking if a caliper is loose.Spent time with Mat Smith at his works sorting a few of the niggles with the 430 and getting a brand new MOT. Passed with no advisories. He got me a new spare alternator belt to take on my road trip with me and got a new oil pressure switch and fitted it as the one on her was leaking. He also replaced a poorly jubilee clip on a coolant hose the realigned the steering U/J's. Plus he sorted the handbrake button so one can actually release the handbrake now.
Thank you Mat and helper.................. sorry I forgot your name. Blame it on old age.
