Think I've got to the bottom of the rough running on the Cerb. Took it out for a run after changing the coil packs, plugs, leads and lambdas, suddenly there was an almighty bang and the exhaust note went up about 50 dBs!
The result was a gaping hole in the original backbox.
I reckon all the wadding inside had collapsed and blocked the outlet.
Booked in on Thursday for new sports boxes!
waveydavey what have you gone for? The standard rear box on mine just went and not sure what to replace with... The result was a gaping hole in the original backbox.

Got the gearbox back in what a pig when on axles stands although my hydraulic ramps helped getting it up to the right height.
Would have been easier with another person pressing on the clutch but nothing some pipe couldn't solve
Unfortunately didn't get as far as i wanted as i ran out of nuts.
I found this very useful when dealing with gearboxes:Would have been easier with another person pressing on the clutch but nothing some pipe couldn't solve

Indeed, however having done several much heavier gearboxes and transfer boxes on Defenders and my Range Rover P38, this just had to be bought after the second, and it's made the job of changing the clutch on the Cerb much easier.Me, I'm more of a push'n'pull at it for %25 of the cost man

Also when the starter motor fails does it give any warning
Mine was fine never had a start problem now it's just dead the garage said its a tvr they do that
Try putting 12V straight to the signal wire.. Sometimes it doesn't quite get 12V and all you get is a *Click* from it as you press the start button.Mine was fine never had a start problem now it's just dead the garage said its a tvr they do that
Car is back on the road since being last driven in September. Finished it off today to be able to go for a quick shake down drive.
Since September it has had new helix clutch, refurbished raceproved slave. new master. Shocks refurbished, gold heat reflective tape around gearbox and exhaust area. Rust removed from rear outriggers and painted. Head lights rewired. new rearview mirror as i broke it whilst doing gearbox. Stainless steel header tank bracket, and airbox mounts, new nuts and bolts throughout. And the major mod of doing away with the drum handbrake going for a spot caliper. Also fitted new fuel lines. painted the prop shaft. Two new cv joints, drive shafts painted, new cv boots. and I'm sure I've missed some.
happy to be back on the road again. just need to put the interior back in, adjust the handbrake, and the F1 panel back on. happy days.

Reading your actions, in general, Peter is quite an amazing trip for me coz what I think about doing you actually get off your rump and do.Since September it has had new helix clutch, refurbished raceproved slave. new master. In this particular case I received an update from MERLIN about Gold, reflective, insulation tape and wondered if it would go or look tacky.
I know that you MUST have some photos of the finished assembly.
Any chance that you could share ??
Thanks !
