Cerbera (S10DPA or R648CCX)
Discussion
Don't know either car but prefer the tony Gilbert car. The bespoke one has an acquired taste interior (assume it's in a football team colours). The replaced outriggers would need careful inspection as would the rest of the chassis. Pretty sure the red one has been discussed years ago. Do a search (eg Aston villa cerbera).
I came within a whisker of buying CCX privately about a year ago. I took the train to Newcastle to view it, intending to drive it back there and then if it was nice enough. When I got there, the paintwork was poor, wheels had paint peeling off in sheets, the outriggers were rotten, the centre console had had a mobile phone holder attached which had rubbed a hole straight through the leather, and it dipped and dived like a seesaw under moderate acceleration and braking, which led me to believe it would need shocks all round too. There was also a whine coming from the engine bay area, although that could have been a tensioner or anything I guess as it sounded healthy otherwise, good oil pressure etc.
I had agreed a price of 7k, but decided against it in the end as I knew I'd spend another 10k getting it as I wanted, and even then it was a 55000 mile car so I'd need to budget an engine rebuild probably at around 80-90k. The owner unfortunately just didn't have the money to throw at the car, and it was a bridge too far for me too.
If all this has been rectified (which I imagine it has at a reputable specialist like Tony Gilbert), then it could be a lovely car. It's still one of my favourite colour combinations.

I bought my Griff 500 of Tony in 2006. I have no problems with the car in the 3 years I owned it. There were a few little bits of paint I asked him to attend to before I bought it. They were fine for a few years but showing issues later - stress cracks on the rear quarter sprayed over and not ground back etc.
So no particular beef with Tony - I would just treat as I would a private sale, I don't think he particularly adds any value but nor does he act inappropriately. Actually I think he just trades TVR's as a bit of fun and a hobby.
In my case he had the perfect Griff 500 for me so that's why I did the deal with him. I had nearly 3 years enjoyment with the car and it was the longest I had ever owned a car for until the Cerbera surpassed it a few days ago.

I went to view the Damson car at Tony Gilbert's this weekend. It's a tidy example and Tony is doing a little work to ensure its a good car before it gets sold. Outriggers look strong, interior is getting some repair work but isn't bad for the mileage, seemed to make the right noises and does look nice for a standard example.
