I'll soon be someone who "did" own a Cerbera
Discussion
The PH mods have deleted any threads I posted or threads I replied to where I mentioned my car being for sale so finally I can post and say I'm just a couple of days away from being a former Cerbera owner
I've done a deal with the new owner and the car will be with it's new owner in the Netherlands on Wednesday next
This is a real mixed emotions situation for me as I've had the car 8 years and loved every minute of it
The truth is if probably never have sold it except for the ridiculously high road tax here in Ireland
It now costs over €1800 per year for anything over 3000cc
This meant that, for a car that was used on a handful of weekends, I was paying more per spin on road tax than I was on petrol
The saddest part for me is the car is now at it's most reliable of any time in the time I've owned it
Absolutely everything is perfect on the car (well aside from the stone chips) and it's also get upgrades like an alloy rad and Powerflex bushings and mounts wherever possible
Actually I better shut up how or I'll have myself talked out of selling it
Oh and as for the obvious question of what I'll replace it with .... well I've a 111R Elise and a GP Mini to play with so it's not as if I'm going to be stuck for something quick to drive but I don't think I'll be able to find something with the performance and affordability of a Cerbera any time soon
Anyway that's my story so I'm (hopefully) not going to be on here again asking "how do I .... " any time soon but I've no doubt I'll pop by from time to time to see what's happening in the world of Cerbera ownership
Oh and thanks folks for all the help through the years

Yeah that's true, I was meant to view that car on my way home from some part of Europe but for some reason it didn't happen
I think the seller couldn't make it or something like that
Hard to believe that it's over 8 years ago eh?
As for the tax ... yeah a lot of cars have left here because of it
They either leave, get declared off the road for most of the year or get driven without tax
It's mad really as if the tax was added on to the fuel price there would be no way to avoid paying it and the chances are everyone would keep their cars longer and use them more and it would probably work out at least equal from a revenue point or possibly even generate more revenue but blinkered civil servants don't seem to be able to see that
Ha ha I don't have that issue with my 1.8 Elise and my 1.6 Mini though as I can tax AND insure both of them for less than the TVR tax
Mad eh?

Yeah I've heard from a Corvette owner that it's even worse there than it is in Ireland
How much worse is it there?
About 6450 to get your plate. How much worse is it there?
And then 2540 per year.
So about 9000 before you've driven your first mile...
I looked at corvettes as well.
Same tax to get your plate but about 4400 per year...
I got a bit depressed when i went to get my Cerbera
And saw £250 on the tax disc
You guys have the lowest tax in the EU.

Couldn't you just run it on uk plates?
Well you can try...But if they catch you,
You have to pay the registration tax and years of annual tax + a fine.
The car will be seized and probably crushed.
And if you're really lucky, you can get some jail time for tax evaison/fraude.
Oh and despite all the tax, our roads are crap.
Fun country huh?
Thank god we have a lot of beer

The fines and penalties can potentially be fairly large here too, again not worth the risk
i think the new owner is already trying to sell your cerb...???

Did you register your car in Belgium yet or are these numbers a guess? And then 2540 per year.

Because as far as i am aware, the first "one-off" registration fee is also based on emissions, but they have never been measured by TVR... any way, all in all i think you will be surprised that it is not going to be E 6450 but way less... well, still crazy high but way less.
any way, just do it the smart way... I pay like less than 500 euro per year ;-)

Still deciding what to do.
it's on axle stands now anyway so no rush
But I did indeed take the 'official' 380gr CO2
If they take the forfait it's only €560 registration... hmmm
Guess I won't take the chance for that money. Thanks Dutch!
Is your the dark green(?? i'm colourblind!) 4.5 with Lux plates sitting at Mark's?

That is mine :-) Opal Pearl and FH Black with privacy glass
Since 2008 and some years ago i bought a Tuscan S as well (black, FH Black)
Any way, if i am not mistaken, there is no official CO2 number, they are all more or less a guess.
So what i understood is, that in Belgium they need an official number...
But that does not exist, so they will take an average number of other cars.
And that average is surely below the real one...
If i am not mistaken, they used 250gr CO2 for a more or less "recently" registered Sagaris.
Bizarrely enough in Walloon and Brussels they use, i think, still the old way.
But gosh... it is just so amazingly bad to find how much you have to pay... You only find out when you bought the car and register it... But on forehand, no go...
So yes, still a lot of money but less than you would pay if they have the real CO2 number...
I put my Cerb and Tuscan S on Dutch plates, and in NL it is based on the weight of the car :-))))
Think that is also more fair :P
Yes that Green one at Marcs place is very nice and for sales.
Sure, i am temped to buy, but i am not sure if i need more RHD cars and i am see more interesting opportunities at that price. I dont care where the steering wheel is, but many do... So might be a hard time selling if you want or need to.

Looks like they bought cheap... offering for E16,500.http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/t...

That is around 12,400 GBP bringing it to NL will cost you a day and like E500 (384 GBP)
And not to forget the risk in the deal...
So they must have bought this lovely Cerbera cheap
