Hi guys,

is it really true what i'm being told by every tyre fitting shop? "They don't make SO2's any more, you have to have SO3's".

I have one front that needs replacing due to bad tracking. The other side is perfect.

Are the SO3's totally different? They are about £30 cheaper so i'm getting a bit nervous about replacing them.

Any other ideas on any better rubber? I really need to replace it a bit lively so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Black Circles told me yesterday that they have a stock of SO2's left.

Thanks Alan.

I think it's time to start the change as it's just going to get harder to find SO2's now.

I'm going to order the SO3's tomorrow.

Cheers

If you happen not to find S-02s anymore, come down here in France; they are the latest Bridgestone available, since S-03s do not even exist here

whatever you do never mix them on the same axle. You should always keep the front pair identical in terms of wear as well as spec if you can

A bloke at Duxford was pushing Toyos (now standard fit on new TVRs?). Can anyone comment on Toyos as an alternative to S03s?

Toyos are now the TVR factory's tyre of choice. There was a lot of discussion on this site maybe 6 months back about S02s v S03s. Apparently, Peter Wheeler wasn't impressed by the SO3s, hence the move to Toyos. I've just replaced 16" S02s on my Cerbie 4.2 with Toyos on 18" spiders. Too early to form any meaningful conclusions about the new rubber, but so far nothing detrimental to report. I'm in the process of sorting the alignment/camber on my car, following which I hope to be able to come to some sort of worthwhile view.

I have a worn but still legal 17" SO2 front tyre for a Cerbera 4.5 which could be yours FOC if that is any help.

I am about to fit my third set of SO3s.
