Steering wheel/Ribbon cable/windscreen wipers woes
Discussion
A very good modification would be to do away with the ribbon and use a pancake slip-ring
This below supplier offers custom center hole sizes
Pancake - http://www.moflon.com/mp.html
Products Page with many slip-ring designs - http://www.moflon.com/products.html
More here with some good size options

If someone was to undertake this modification, posting up the process will be of great help to many people

I tried a pancake slipring in Amsterdam once. Not for me.
Would that be the http://www.arslipring.com/products/slip-rings/thro... Penelope mentioned? Juddder said:
Good idea
I think you'd need the 1mm spacing rather than the 0.5 as per this item
Back when I was replacing the steering wheel on mine I spoke to the company who made the machinery that press these cables and it was expensive to get a replacement made because I couldn't seem to find any flat cable headers that allowed socketed pins to be connected to the flat cable
If we can find a way of adding these to the end of those cables then job done...
I posted links to the 1mm cable above, just need the connector info, if theres anything written on oneI think you'd need the 1mm spacing rather than the 0.5 as per this item

So Called posted in the Computer Section.
Looks like this Company can make what you need. UK Branch near Reading.
Assuming the Conductor Pitch is 1.27mm or 2.54mm.
https://www.nicomatic.com/product-crimpflex_jumper...
Connectors for DIY
http://www.te.com/usa-en/products/connectors/pcb-c...
A bit of a bodge/workaround and dependant on available space
If only 5 conductor are used. Makes sense - 1 Feed and 4 Switches
Redirect the Switches through working Conductors with Jumper Wires
https://www.digikey.co.uk/product-detail/en/adafru...
Depending on which Conductors are used/fail, would turning the Cable over and winding it up in the opposite direction fix it?

I had to attend some meetings in India this week but back tomorrow.
Hopefully the cables off now so can start in earnest at the weekend.
Cheers,
Tony.
