I've unfortunately built up quite a collection, I've got pair of the original clatter cams with the fat lobes (height is the same) but they don't have any ID markings on them, all they have is 106 degrees hand etched in to them both.
I've got one of the second type (as fitted to our 98) out of the car that is the shorter odd bank cam it had E2867 printed into it during manufacture. I've put the other back in the car now but I'm fairly sure some one else has the other at home somewhere too. Those cams are I think cindered, they look like they were made in the same way as the first clatter cams being very smooth all over, just they have no hex drive section on them.
I also got a pair of the latest chill cast type (that are clearly cast with a very rough finish where they haven't been ground) as I was misinformed that the profile was different to the second type above, they are not they are a perfect match, hence the even bank cam being back in & me having a spare new even bank cam waiting to go back & a lot of waisted time behind me!

Thanks, mmmmm, First thing I didnt know there was a long and short so at least mine are not the wrong way. my short one is in the left bank cyl, 1,3,5,7, I am trying to get the timing done but the lay out of the cams in the manual is not the same as mine, also a photo of one of the heads seem the wrong way round.
Thanks Simon, I am going to sit down when I get a quiet and write down what I have then look in the manual, setting the timing seems a little haphazard and the photos are not too clear, I never marked the positions when I stripped it as I didnt trust anything on the engine and didnt want to go up the wrong path, cheers Steve

I was told is makes no difference what cams you have when it comes to timing them in. Even timing (bucket followers level) at TDC for best power or inlet 1mm lower for better lower RPM response. As long as you marked something for TDC when you stripped it it's quite easy.
