Well I can't believe it's almost a year since I met with the former Pistonheads owner Mark and bought his Cerbera.

This was my first TVR and I had viewed a fair few before taking the plunge and I'm so glad I did!

From my research a common thing I came across many times was that these cars like to be driven, so with Marks car on a tad under 60k but with loads of history including a clear MOT I was hoping I hadn't made a mistake.

Well 11 months on I have covered 2500 miles using the car mainly on a sunny Sunday when covering the commute to work which is a 120 mile round trip. It has been FANTASTIC I have enjoyed every minute so far, the exhaust noise is one that will never stop making me smile.

She has been an absolute joy and has never ever let me down (I am touching a wooden table while typing!) . Always starts on the button every time, hasn't overheated in the occasional traffic jam either which was a bit of a concern. All I have done is ensure she's started and warmed up every week and taken for a gentle run weather permitting. Every week I check the oil and have only found a top,up,was needed around every 1000 miles or so, plus I've kept an eye on the coolant.

She is now with the guys at TVR101 having the 12k service & MOT along with a full detail clay bar valet and touch in few minor stone chips to keep her looking good.

The reason for the post is to give anyone who is looking at their first Cerbera to take the plunge. I had reservations and maybe I have been lucky, but take your time to find the right one, check the history, look after it and enjoy! I can't wait for the sun to start shining a bit more so I can start enjoying the Sunday commute again.......

Good to see the old car again!

I don't visit here very often any more, now I've got a 700bhp Nissan GT-R which is awesome but in totally different ways. I still miss the drama, and most of all the noise of a TVR. I've been browsing the Sagaris For Sale section recently! :-)

Glad she's being looked after, TVR101 are very familiar with the car, it came out last time with a bunch of quality work done and a fresh alarm from Mr Baker whilst he was in the country.

Keep driving it and you'll be fine.

Hi Mark, hope you and the family are well.

Still loving the car, she's just sailed through the MOT again with no advisories - happy days smile

Can't wait to pick her up next week, I'll post up some more pics as hopefully after the detail valet she will be gleaming. Just hope there is a nice dry sunny day looming!

Hope you're enjoying the replacement

Thanks for posting this, I'm hoping to jump in later this year but have a few other things to sort out first. I don't have any reservations but then again I'm still a fair way off putting my hand in my pocket. Good to hear my impressions of ownership have been borne out by at least 1 other person!

I've had mine more than 10 years and it's an amazing car. The nature of forums is that people tend to post up for advice when they have problems, particularly because the Cerbera is comparatively easy to DIY, but I think you'll find most owners love em smile. There's not much that compares at twice the price.

In that case

There is something to be said for the sound of around 30 TVR's through Cheddar Gorge on the way to Haynes museum, having stopped for a full english.

Well, it's said it's £3k a year to run a Cerbera, so I put £250 a month away.
Even with a full chassis refurb, new clutch, all suspension replaced and mechanically wanting for nothing, I've spent about £15-16K on it in ten years (purchased for £13,250).

Thats not too bad for huge amounts of fun, and with everything done now should be cheaper for the future.

Could of been me, I was driving it a week ago last Tuesday to drop it off with Woody and the guys at TVR101. If he said it was loud then it was probably me smile

Ahh could well have been then! didn't mention the noise, as he seems to have got used to mine, but did mention some traction issues coming off the roundabout! he tried to keep up but as you expect the cerb was a tad faster than his golf!! smile

let me know if your going to be in the area again as there is 2 of us in Farnborough
