I bought my car about 4 months ago, since when the odometer has been a bit unreliable - it generally worked for the first miles of a journey and then stopped. Two weeks ago, I went to the 20th anniversary day at Millbrook and, when leaving, went over the speed bump a fraction too fast and kissed the bump as the rear wheel came off it. Since then the odometer has worked perfectly!

Makes sense as the speed sensor is on the o/s rear reading off the diff output, maybe air gap is too much or dodgy wiring to it. Plenty of posts on here and cheaper sensor available via a member (who I forgot!)

Ukkid35 aka Paul does the sensors but I doubt it would be the sensor if the speedo was working, more likely to be the speedo itself they have a habit of this type of issue.

Absolutely right - Speedo and Odo work off the sensor at the diff, so if the Speedo is working then there is a mechanical issue with the Odo - this usually happens at x9,999 miles.

Mine got stuck at 49,999. I had to take it apart and clean some flash off the gears then lube and refit, works fine! smile

Trip in mine doesn't work, I made the classic mistake of trying to reset it and ever since the bloody thing hasn't moved.

They really are fragile.

Common fault on the odometer on x9999 as it's barely got the strength to wind over. Just knock the glass gently whilst driving fixes it
