I think any Android device from the last few years will run the app (Aide can advise on minimum OS requirements) but one thing to bear in mind is that if you want to charge it at the same time as using RS-AJP, you are limited to certain brands/models. Obviously this may be important to you if you intend on making it a permanent fixture. I use a Nexus7 (2013) which works well and looks great but cannot charge during use. Lots of information in the RS-AJP threads..

Wireless charging whilst running RS-AJP works fine on my Galaxy S7 Edge.recently got a S8+. Looking for any app to try on it.
downloaded the program, ran it with the OTG dongle that came with the phone and a fdti chip based usb to serial, nil happened. Then read the wiki on fdti and ordered the amazon one. Duh
Meanwhile my phone comes up and says what type of USB connection do I want, charge the phone, MTP media transfer, PTP picture transfer, RNDIS USB ethernet, Audio source, MIDI. and another setting for USB debugging.
Anything I particular need to set or will it just work when I get the advised cable?

I tried several cheap cables with my Nexus 7, before finally giving in and ordering the Amazon one - worked perfectly ever since..

I normally choose MTP.Anything I particular need to set or will it just work when I get the advised cable?
You can make a flat serial RS232 cable.
Which enables you to close the lid of the ecu.

Must get round to getting this on mu iphone, Aide what would I need to add to the r232 cable to connect to my iphone 7 or do you think running it via Bluetooth is the best option ?
Regards
Matt
Hi Matt, while there is an RS232 cable available for the iPhone it is not approved for use by apps on the App Store. It can only be used by large corporates who have their own in-house App Store and applications or private individuals.Regards
Matt
So, there are three options:
-WiFi RS232 adapter and an app which works over wifi which doesn't exist
-RS232 cable if you can write your own app (charging the phone at the same time requires more spaghetti)
-Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) which is what I ended up choosing when developping RSiAJP since it means I can plug my iphone in and charge it while listening to music/sat nav/camera warnings and no need to worry about WiFi connection (BLE connections are managed by the app, no pairing, etc...).

There is no Bluetooth functionality available on RS-AJP.
However, I believe RS-iJP does.

I presume you mean RS-iAJP which uses bluetooth via an RS232-BLE adapter for iOS devices. (Lite Version - Free but limited in functionality: https://itunes.apple.com/fr/app/rsiajp-lite/id1240... Full Version - https://itunes.apple.com/fr/app/rsiajp/id123472548...However, I believe RS-iJP does.
