Fuel tank and pump set up
Discussion
Since I bought my S3c last September I've wondered if it has the "normal" fuel tank and pump.
Photos I've seen on-line of other S3 boots show the tank to be totally flat but mine has a fixed take off on the left hand side which protrudes through the boot carpet, as shown on the attached photo.
The pump which seems to be on the far left of the boot is nothing like the standard ford setup.
Can anyone tell me whether this is "normal" for an S3c and if not, any idea why it might have been changed and what it's been changed for ?
Thanks
David

Go underneath the car and you should find the fuel pump in the normal place in the left hand rear wheel arch. What you have in the boot is a carbon filter which is part of the catalytic convertor, and emissions set up as originally fitted to your car. It's where the C in S3C comes from. I have exactly the same set up in the boot. You can safely ignore it as being next to useless.
Thanks chaps, that explains it
The spare wheel won't actually fit on the mount due to the electric aerial, which is a shame as it does roll around and sometimes opens the boot lid when it rolls into the latch on the offside.
Rich, whilst you're around, did you ever produce the extended bonnet opening kits that were discussed on a thread a while back ?
Cheers

I was wondering about that aerial mount - I haven't see any others fitted on that side. Is there any evidence that it was previously fitted on the other side?
No, nothing to suggest it ever had an aerial on the offside. No sign of paint repair to the offside and the underside of the offside wing hasn't had a repair. Most aerials were fitted on the offside to avoid snagging on hedges etc on country lanes.Gassing Station | S Series | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
