Hi folks. Bit of info if anyone’s considering tackling this job.

The Two wire button behind the boot badge, has a couple of wires on it. A bad solder on one of mine, has caused them to short together, and eventually burn the solenoid out.

If you decide to buy a Five wire solenoid, and are unsure of the wiring, basically the two wires that always have resistance across them, regardless of the position of the solenoid, are the motor.

The other Three unused wires are monitoring outputs, that change state, depending on wether the solenoid is pulled in or pushed out.

Solenoid held in by Two pozi screws and the latch is held in by Two 10mm bolts.

Simple system, the door module sends a small signal to the normally open button behind your badge, you press the button, sending a return signal to the door module, and the door module sends a trigger voltage to the solenoid for a few seconds.

FWIW the original solenoid, once burnt out, had no resistance accross it’s motor smile

Might be common knowledge, if not, i’m glad if i’ve helped biggrin
