Used my heater last week, can't believe how poor it is compared to my old wedge I know it has further travel being located near headlight . Spoke to Racetech they do a blower for the chimaera but with little modification will fit and vastly improve , just wondering has anyone done it. Or anything else that would increase flow / volume . Also on different thread. Polybush. Superflex or powerflex leaning towards super , shockers gone for protech 600 series double adjustable good choice? Cheers moose v8

The problem is Precat heater blowers are located under the nearside headlamp and rely on an airtight wheel arch whereas 500 blowers are mounted directly onto the heater matrix above the glove box with an additional footwell side panel and cowling. You could try making your wheel arch more airtight but as I didn't fancy removing the headlamp cover & pod I decided to buy a second hand heater blower fan including the housing with the required 500 footwell side panel plus a new motor and installed it in the 500 position, my old fan is still under the headlamp and now redundant.

The blower fan motor and housing are from Vauxhall Cavalier/Nova/Astra and are the same on Precat & 500 Griffiths and Chimmys, the motor alone is Bosch 3 137 020 007 but also try searching on ebay for “blower 90227051” or “blower 1808063”

You can see from this thread https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=12... it’s a lot of work to make your own cowling but its really worth the effect if you use your Griffith in the winter.

If the above PHs thread doesn’t put you off moving your heater blower fan then maybe you should consider buying this heater blower and TVR footwell panel together.
