Window not working...............
Discussion
I would appreciate some advice regarding my driver's side window.
The window is up at the moment but does not respond to the switch being put in the down position, however I can hear a clicking noise in the door. Do these windows have relays behind the door panel, I didn't think that they did.
Also, does anyone have a window wiring diagram, apart from the one in the bible?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Whilst crossing Germany in 07, in my first Griff, a 95 model, the drivers window stuck in the down position and about 30 mins later the heavens opened. It rained for almost the next 2 days and the foot well was soaked, but then the window started working again and gave no more trouble up until April 08, when I stupidly sold it !
There are no relays involved.
It may be the motor failed but I would suspect the switch first. The noise you can hear may be the motor twitching when you try the switch but the switch is not passing enough current to drive the motor. The contacts get dirty/corroded.
Pull the switches out and swap them over. If the problem moves you could just try switching it up/down repeatedly in the hope that it will clean the contacts.

PM me if you want a diagram....minus power mod.

Unless someone did the power mod, by adding a relay and a heavier 12v feed. Before it broke, did it move fast up and down?It may be the motor failed but I would suspect the switch first. It certainly didn't go up & down fast! So I guess no relay added. Thanks anyway. Thanks Smoggy will try battery reset, has worked for ECU faults in the past.
And thanks Steve..email sent.
If its a new motor required, its an easy change out to do yourself. They are Left handed / Right handed so make sure you get the correct one. Not too expensive to buy.
You just need to remove the door card and trim to allow access then its a few securing bolts to get at. Straight swap.

For 2nd hand ones, you want the ones from a TX1 taxi. On a Chimaera (Griff the same?), the n/s passenger one on a taxi fits the TVR driver's door. They are handed by the way the gearing mechanism is fitted. The part number is on them:

The same is used in a Ferrari Mondial and there is a massive 'tax' on the prices of what are actually just Bosch motors. I was tempted to stock up on them but TVR Parts do new ones for £85 + VAT:

The fault turned out to be one of the switches, it worked upwards but not downwards.
Although it is said to be a Cavalier Mk 3 part I couldn't find anything like it on eBay so have gone to TVR Parts for an OE one.
Thanks every one for advice etc.
Alex.
I had to replace one of mine recently - I think the replacement was a Corsa or Astra part.Although it is said to be a Cavalier Mk 3 part I couldn't find anything like it on eBay so have gone to TVR Parts for an OE one.
