Seems like every month there’s something that needs replacing or fettling at the moment.....this months issue being this:

It’s snapped on the straight bracket that fixes into the lid but at the same time the forces have sheared the pin in the hinge itself - both sides!

I’m struggling to find anywhere with replacements in stock, any ideas? Is it possible to dismantle the hinge and fit a new pin through? The bracket that fits into the boot lid looks easy enough to replicate so I’m not too concerned about that.

The glen should be able to supply, he's a breaker in the North East.

The pin has probably been partially seized for a while, causing the fracture of the bracket.

My fix for this (pin) issue was to remove the hinge arrangement and cut a slot in the aluminium to relieve the pressure on the (corroded) pin. It could then be drifted out. If you cut the slot in the side towards the front of the car when the boot is in the closed position, you won’t be able to see the slot you cut to get the pin out.....

The fractured bracket can be welded up by an alloy welder, then you won’t have to be reamed for a replacement!

Thanks for the input chaps. Managed to find a used pair but they’re pretty knackered and poor value given the amount of life left in them is unknown. I looked at repairing them but so much has twisted and broken that I don’t think it’s worth the effort. Fortunately TVR Parts have managed to source some so by the end of next week I should be able to remove the duct tape holding the boot lid on! 😄
