Looking to buy my first Cerbera, anyone know P885 KON?
Discussion
I've seen a few threads where peeps' opinions clash and, in the end, it is all down to personal taste.
I am in the process of removing my air con as I have never got on with one.
They were standard fitment on 4.5s but an optional extra on 4.2s.
I mentioned my guide earlier in this thread, if you're interested.
You own an MX5 so you're already aware of God's Own AC - Wind the window down.
BUT
The big thing....
NEVER buy the first one you drive. They are such a different experience to 'normal' motoring they can seduce you as easily as Odysseus' Sirens.
Take an owner with you for a four-eyes check.
Best o'

This car re-appeared at HPC classics after a £££££ restoration and after test driving last week I think I’m going to buy it! It felt fantastic but it was my first and only viewing of a Cerbera (although lusting after one for 25 years).
I’m equally nervous and excited about the prospect of Cerbera ownership and understand the risks, but does anyone know any more about the car? It sounds and looks as though the chassis and engine are in good condition, I just want to feel I’ve done as much due diligence as I can before diving in!

I viewed this car before buying mine last year through another dealer, and made a few comments in an earlier post.
It clearly has a lot of potential, but did need some tidying up (which wasn't factored into the price when I viewed!) From memory, the biggest issues were poor paintwork (swirly as hell, blistered rear 3/4 on the drivers side, and overspray on the outrigger), offside outrigger is a bit corroded, and the lack of history.
HPC seem to have a good reputation, so I would be fairly confident they would have sorted any bits that needed doing prior to selling, and stand by you to sort any niggles.
Enjoy it!

I've just bought one of these, and I will be displaying it proudly
It sums up my ten years of ownership perfectly
Whilst I can not claim to have undertaken anything like the engineering tasks that Paul and others have, I can say that I have done more on my TVR than I have on all my other cars put together, to-date... by a long shot. And mine was a fully prepared Str8six car!It sums up my ten years of ownership perfectly
It would be interesting to know what the purchase price was, less than 3 years ago. It also had a new V5 in August 2022, so did the owner who posted it on here move it on in 2022, or was the new V5 just for a different reason?
I think the number plate is accurate. It really was, if it needed £14K spending on it, to now get an asking price of £29K. It had done 4,500 miles between the 2021 and 2023 MOTs. That is extortionately expensive motoring for the mileage. £3 a mile in repairs alone!

Strong money for an early car (crank!) with no aircon. I know tvr interiors don't age well but that seat and centre console and steering wheel! A bit of TLC there would really lift the feel of the cabin. Nice colour, stands well in the pictures, could do with the stone chips sorting for that price though. We need to bump cerb prices up they are still an absolute bargain, but this one might need a bit of good fortune to sell at that price. Good luck though, it's a handsome car!
It’s had at least couple of extra owners since I bought it nearly two years ago. The car needed an engine rebuild within a month of purchasing it, and even after that, I had very little confidence in it getting me anywhere.
I always knew it was a car I might live to regret, and in hindsight I should’ve done more homework and not just buy the first car I drove (I couldn’t resist the imperial blue and ridiculous overrun on the exhaust!). Pleased to have ticked the cerb off the bucket list but it’s a shame it didn’t quite go to plan.
Not sure what work / issues it’s had since I sold it back to HPC 2 years ago, but happy to answer privately to any prospective buyers queries.
