Sorry, didn't realise it was you, I'd have chatted more, but the day went by so quick...

Wow. Fantastic motors and impressive numbers.

Macbags Standard 450 Chim showing 286 is also very impressive.
I’d be happy with that.
What was your max torque figure Macbags.
Firstly thanks for a great day, thoroughly enjoyed seeing such a variety of cars and chatting to you all.

Thanks for the comment Classic Chim, I was obviously delighted with the result and now have a reference point if I ever make a few subtle tweaks. Max torque appears to be 300 at 4500 revs.

Interestingly Jools offered a comment that the air fuel mixture suggested that I wasn’t on full throttle...... got home and checked and he was right, on fully depressed accelerator the butterfly is a good 10 degrees from being horizontal. Not sure what it will mean in practice, will pick up the phone to you Jools and ask as Charlie also commented she was running a bit lean at max power........ am I drifting towards my first tweak, even if it’s a Jools remap to get me closer to the magical 300bhp!?! Words of caution and encouragement requested.

Thanks again everyone, great morning had

A really great event, thanks to Joolz for organising, Charlie for doing all the work and Biker28i for all of the excellent photos!

Was also good to put faces to the various names on PH and to see and understand the amount of effort that goes in to making some of those massively impressive power/torque figures. The turbo cars were very impressive, but for me the highlight of the day was nawarne’s Tuscan with a Str8Six 4.3 S6 making 412 BHP. Impressive!

I took the SEAC along to see just what a 32 year car on its original engine (no rebuilds) could do. 250 BHP was a bit lower than I’d hoped for, but when you consider its age, not bad. Charlie thought it was running sweetly from the graphs, but thinking about a trip to Joolz just to check nothing is obviously amiss (I also checked for the butterfly opening fully on full throttle when I got home and it is in the SEAC's case).

Thoroughly enjoyable morning especially as its only 15miles away for me. Obviously pleased with my results and enjoyed the conversations and banter. Thanks Julian for organising the event. Nice to meet like minded petrol heads just a shame we are all getting so old, no young blood there, maybe the insurance kills them all off.

I will see whats involved in upgrading the Supercharger impeller as the data logger showed the boost drops off above 6000rpm to only 0.46bar.
its never more than 0.60bar so I think the charger really seems to be struggling to keep up with the engine requirements. Its already being oversped by 10% 53000rpm recommended max and im doing 58,000rpm by my calculations.New impeller, Joolz tweak on the map and maybe 600bhp is achievable.

And defo up for a TVR trackday at Brands although Castle Combe is also a good option and might be better suited to the Cerbs (Presuming Brands would be the Indy Circuit)

Please put my name down if a list is started.

Sorry about the tea stains leaking flask on the way back from SSR.

Thanks again hopefully see you at the next gathering.

PS merry xmas

Ooh Castle Coombe, but the trouble is most of their trackdays there now are 100db, only 105db for bikes. We'd need a 105db day which Brands can accommodate.

Back home now ..

what a great day, thanks Charlie (and assistant) and thank you to everyone who turned up it was excellent .. just like the old days!

The Maserati engined Cerb looks fab and sounds even better, and great power. Both that and Mike's race cerbera were very welcome late additions to the line up, cheers fellas.

The SEAC looked tremendous and is one of my favourite cars of all time, shame it was down on power but it must be relatively easy to work out what's going on there, the engine sounded perfect and super-smooth, just the numbers are low.

The turbo Chims were putting smiles on everyone's faces with their excellent outputs, and the supercharged Cerb raised that even further.

Just to bring everyone back down to earth, my Tuscan didn't go on the dyno but did do a round trip of 290 miles and averaged 29MPG which I think is very impressive too haha!

Thank you everyone !

Hi All, thanks to Joolz for organising, Charlie for doing all the work and Biker28i for all of the excellent photos!

Excellent meeting you all and a good few enjoyable conversations.

Like Twincam - this event has spurred me on to get my SEAC back on the road.

Thanks Joolz for organising, Charlie for the RR , Byker28i for the Photo's and the bloke that brought all the stoves, tea/coffee etc (sorry I'm hopeless with names) It was a good day out, great to put some faces to names although I still don't have a clue who most of the aliases are, must be an age thing.

Great to see a decent selection of Cerb's including Mikes race car and Raf's Mazzer conversion, A1raks blown Cerb etc.
The most interesting runs for me were the power of the 2 Turbo Chim's, the Straight six built 4.3 SS and A1raks blown Cerb, some great numbers.
The SEAC was really lovely to see and it was a SEAC that really made me want a TVR from back in the early 90's when I was sat next to one in traffic in London, it was so different to everything else at the time.

I was really pleased with my own run, as far as I know the engine and map are how they left the factory, badged as a 4.2 in the V5 but as a very late Cerb (2004) it's certainly a 4.5 bottom end and according to Andy @ APM Red Rose heads with a 4.2 induction setup. All I've done is added a complete ACT quiet system and removed the cats. A healthy 391.2 BHP and just over 360 ft/lb torque.
After a few of you talked about the difference in low RPM smoothness a visit to Joolz can make and talking to the man himself I'm hoping to make that a reality.
I'm on for a Trackday if you organise it Mike, especially if it's in the south.
Here's my graph.

Thanks for a great day. Really enjoyed myself and very happy with my output. It might be the lowest of the Cerbs on the day but hasn't had any mapping or tweaks other than the exhaust and is an early clatter cam 4.2.

Shame it lost 2nd gear on the way home! Now I know what my winter project is...

Very sorry to hear that

But also very intrigued, as I've not heard of that before, it's usually 5th that fails

If you take the box out yourself, I'd be interested in seeing any photos you take

The good thing is, if you haven't damaged the input shaft or 5th gear, then you should be able to source parts needed to fix the box

Nick (nawarne) here!

I'd like to add my thanks to Joolz in particular, and all you others that made the day a success. Mention must go to the superb catering as well!!

I was always of the opinion that these rolling road days were just about willy-waving.....Until I saw the screen come up with my figures!! Needless to say I was (very, very) excited to see the numbers scrolling up as they did the power runs.

I struggled to make an adequate reply to Mike S when he asked who mapped it. The set-up was exactly as it left Str8Six 7 years ago following the 4.3 rebuild....and some 50K miles later. I do tweak the TB's from time to time to get air volume/throughput within 'range' and observe the adaptives and AFR is good. She's done well for a 15+ year old car with 100K on the clock now.

Had a warm, fuzzy feeling as I drove down to Mere in Wilts to meet my other beloved (wife) who was making Christmas wreaths with the 'girls'.

Thanks Paul. I had it all out two years ago when 5th disappeared. I think the synchro isn't engaging properly as it just grinds when you go for the gear. It seems to be common with mustangs. When I take it apart I'll post anything that might be useful to people.

I really enjoyed peoples face when they weren't expecting much and excellent numbers came out of the dyno.

It is steep, and holds it there across the reves.
The fueling stayed level across the whole run.

Cheers. For me that was one of the really impressive engines - how that power was delivered.

Much better than mine spooling a lot earlier and making similar power numbers at about 700 rpm earlier hence a much fatter torque curve.
Interesting comparison that throws up some thoughts on mine. Barries bottom end is much better and certainly more apt for the job in hand. I also reckon he has a more suitable cam in place.
