Stag's son here again.
I am trying to persuade my dad into de-catting his car.
How much would this cost and how much does it cost when putting them back in for an MOT.
Do you really get 1-2 ft flames?

Costs, hardly anything and as long as the car can be put on ramps it's easy to change them. You do get flames but you have thrash the nuts off it and then come off the power, unfortunatly only spectators will see them. I recorded some great de-cat sounds in a tunnel but they messed up, so I'll have to do it again.

If I remember correctly it was about £80 (parts and labour) to get the de-cat done and if you're getting the MOT done at the dealers I would think the refitting of the cats would be done for virtually nothing. Judging by some of the comments on this site it's better than a sports pipe and a devil of a lot cheaper. Have been told by others that flames do shoot out of the exhausts, but unfortunately never get to see them when driving. If you already have a sports exhaust be wary of doing the decat as apparently IT'S WAY TOO LOUD, MAN! Must admit would like to hear one though.

Dan.

Stags son

Get your dad to tell me when he is next at Heathfield, and i'll bring mine down. I got the de cat pipe from Jules,a nd it sounds the nuts. I only have a standard read box, so no flames, but great sounds.

I am contemplating going back to the seperate rear boxes, purely to hear each bank.

o.k thanks.
He's just got his car back from the garage today. The problem was corroded terminal leads on the ECU. He's had the car tuned back up now and it's running well.... touch wood

If i can't persuade him into getting the car de - catted maybe you can??

I did persuade him to get a sub for the helmet hole and a couple of amps though. Just got to wire it all up.

Cheers

Just got a JP Sports Exhaust fitted today. I thought the car sounded good before, but now has a much deeper sound and the pops and bangs are even louder.

It doesn't sound unbearably loud - not sure the neighbours would agree though....

Bought the system from Joolz - top bloke!!! and had it fitted by Laws Tyres in Aberden - who did a great job.

The exhaust was £370 delivered and £30 to get it fitted. Worth every penny.

That sounds really cheap!
Is that the price for the whole exhaust line or only part of it (rear tubes)?

No just the rear 2 pipes, there are cheaper systems available, but other threads on here have said how the JP system sounded the best.
