Trading Chimaera for Cerbera - a good move?

Looking at trading up my trusty 450 Chimaera for a 4.5 Cerbera. Parked mine next to a stunning Cerbera with 18” Spiders at the weekend and the decision was made! Am I making the right move? I’m aware of the increased servicing costs, but is the reliability as good as the Chimaera? I hear a/c is a ‘must have’ option, but what about power steering. Any advice would be welcome!

Power steering is standard on all Cerbs. Air conditioning is almost a must, it gets pretty hot in there in the summer. Essential if you expect a female companion to stay on good terms.

I traded my Chimaera 500 for a new Cerbera over 2.5 years ago, and have never regretted it! Performance and driving experience is a world apart.

Servicing costs will be higher, especially if you use a franchised dealer.

Its a great move----- one you should never regret....yes running costs will be higher - but the grin will be wider.....and the noise will be better (get a sports exhaust/decat)- only do both if you like blood in your ear canals....

As for reliability -I am afaraid that there is no common thread here....any TVR reliability is a luck of the draw...I eprsonally was very lucky and had less issues with my Cerb than with my Griffith...but when I had them they were more expensive on the Cerbera of course....performance is in another league...forget about stepping up-this is getting a leg right up the ladder....Danny is right though ensure you get a/c or you will literally sweat your nuts off.....do your research on the car thoroughly....I did and it paid off and hopefully its new owner is enjoying it now too (eh darrent ?????)

I've just done exactly the same thing, swapped my Chim 450 for a 4.5 Cerbie (see profile), you'll love it.

Just looking for the right car - can't wait!. Did you buy R2 PLO from Fernhurst - I noticed that had sold over the weekend.

This does seem to be a natural progression, but forgive me but I keep looking at 911's
But in the acumulation of toys changeing the Chimaera is currently a few months away.
1. Buy motorbike (to commute on in winter)
2. Buy House
3. Buy 2nd car
4. Buy ex-race car/trailer
5. Change Chimaera
