stags son,

Has any one else's 4.2 cerbera had an upgrade of power?

My dad's cerbera has got high lift quiet cams and a re-mapped ECU. It's supposed to be putting out nearly 400 break.
TVR say it's one of the quickest 4.2 cerbera's that they have seen and diven.
It even surprises the dealer and mechanics (Dream Machines) where he got the cerb from.

The car is soooo fast though!!

Has any one else had any similar upgrades atall?

Stag's son,

I just suppose it's down to money in the end.
I don't see why they shouln't do it on the new ones though!!

Apparently someone posted something about they were going to pick up there car some time soon and it had 390bhp. That was posted about 3 days ago!

Down to money?
Are these cams so different from the *standard* ones?

Easy way to sort this one out is to put it on a dyno and see if it has a real 400 bhp, or merely 400 TVR bhp

Stag's son,

That number is almost certainly complete bollocks. As for dealers and factories saying a car is fast... they say that to everyone, sorry, but they do.

Remapping the ECU on a standard 4.2 is not going to give it 50bhp extra, and the cams are already high lift. With John Ravenscroft remapped ECU, tuning for superunleaded, head porting AND higher compression, my standard 350bhp 4.5 JUST ABOUT made 400.

I'd say the chance of your 4.2 being higher than 360 is vanishingly small. But please prove us otherwise by dynoing on a reputable road!

PS That guy who thought he had 390bhp (been told by the seller) checked with the factory and TVR Power, and as we thought, it was a load of porkies.

I'm confused, I thought that the 4.5 had 390bhp standard and the 4.2 had 360bhp standard?

I meant actual. The 4.2's and 4.5 have roughly 330 to 350, with some exceptions either way (310 and 360 have been seen). 4.5 has more torque generally.

My Red Rose 4.5 is the only one to be publically rolling roaded as far as I know, and that went from 350 to 400.

I hate to think how gutted I'd be if I bought a Cerbera and it only had 310bhp!

I remember there being a similar story with the F355 with some of them having as little as 290-300bhp when Ferrari quote 387bhp.

Makes you wonder, must have been a big difference when you got yours to 400bhp was there alot of work involved?

In my opinion it doesn't matter what the actual power output of the engine is (however it is measured).

You should only have cause for concern if you don't think that the car performs as the manufacturer claims.

From what I've experienced of my Cerbera, it seems like it should get close to the claimed acceleration, deceleration and maximum speed claims so I very happy.
