Apologies, I haven’t been on here for a long time, got too lazy from the ease of posting pictures on FB....

The yellow 4.5 I used to post on here about years ago is fine just SORNed now as I’m too busy with the other Cerbs now, my username has a certain irony!

I thought there maybe some people on here who haven't seen the pictures and may be interested, maybe for morbid curiosity as much as anything else...

I picked it up from Glen back in June as write off that can be rebuilt. I’m still not sure what category it actually is, I was assuming it would say on the V5, but it didn’t when it finally came back in my name. It was already a repaired write off as it was caught up in that fire at Powers Performance a good few years back but it was still driving fine after the crash.

I stopped off to get a replacement corner on the way

Unfortunately on closer inspection I found there was quite a bit of other damage:

I wasn’t surprised to find it & it is still very much repairable but at this point a kindly specialist told me about a very nice black 96 Cerb he knew of that was being broken.

It was missing everything that made it go, stop & steer but otherwise very nice never crashed Cerb so I blew the whole restoration budget on that instead!

The sensible thing to do would have been to have just put the running gear straight into that as the chassis looked generally not too bad, seemed to just have surface rust.

However I decided to do a quick body off on it first. If people still like built threads let me know & try to find time for one in it, the body is back on & it’s coming along quite well…

That’s a long & different story though so back to the green one, it is a 99 & had only done 39k, the black 96 had done 47k so I was assuming the chassis on the green one would be better so pulled the body off:

My helper found that as usual the waxoyl was hiding a good few nasty bits

That chassis isn't too bad & I will get round to fixing it at some point but for now I just dropped the body back on top & it's been moved to the I'll get round to it soon car car port...

I've been getting on with building the black one instead, the chassis on that was a lot better. As I as said if people still like a build thread let me know smile

Always interested to see this sort of thing. I'm hoping to take the body off mine this winter and threads like these often have some good ideas in them to copy - thanks! smile

Definitely keen on a build thread, I'd love a Cerb one day but it would very much be a lottery win, one day car for me.

Brill so far Andy thumbup

BUT

I am gagging to know how the strip one, rather than rebuild.
If you could post a 'Bolt List', I would be internally grateful.

p.s. How on Earth do you bribe a teenage girl to give such important help at a stage that is so far from looking good ? confused

I'd love to see a build thread please!

It's my dream to have the time and space to do a body off restore one day, and the more info and pictures out there the better.

There is kind of a bolt list (pictures with arrows pointing to where all the bolts are you need to remove are) in my old guide I did when I took the body off the yellow one, if it's is any good?
https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=6&t=902489&mid=41493&nmt=A%20guide%20to%20a%20partial%20&%20full%20body%20lift

My son was 9 months old when I started that last body of & was 4 when I finished it! His younger sister was born in the middle of doing it. It's a lot better now they can help when I need it, they were very useful holding spanners as you need two people for some of the body bolts. She enjoys helping sometimes....
