Not sure if you'd be interested/practical for you, but the TVRCC is having three track days around the country this year:

Wednesday 29th of May - Brands Hatch Indy.
Wednesday 24th of July - Oulton Park full circuit.
Thursday 12th of September - Cadwell Park.

If one of those is close by to you, I'll get you passenger ticket for you to come along for the event on me. Have a ride in a few cars, meet some owners... maybe you might start to see why folks love their TVRs in spite of them not being perfect.

There are of course other events other than the trackdays too where you can participate too if you so wished, but the offer is there if you want to take it up.

The problem is that you are just a load of blinkered fans with the most rose-tinted spectacles imaginable.
Just a quick one, I mean imagine coming to a TVR forum on a website that was founded based on TVR ownership and admiration. You read the room as well as Teresa May. Its a shame because you make some good points in some of your posts but it's nearly always marred with vitriol or sometimes skewed with completely misguided opinion. Nontheless your opinion it is and you are welcome to it.

To provide another opinion - owning a car, like a TVR [insert preferred equivalent here] comes with pros and cons. I have had two, one was extremely painful ownership, one was a joy. Both cerbera's, both from the same factory albeit a few years apart. Thinking rationally, I shouldn't have bought a second, but I did. There is more to owning a machine like a trev than reliability woes, stats etc. Sometimes you just do it for love, or fun, or because it's a childhood dream realised.

I thought the video was great and if it bolsters the value of criminally under valued cerbs, or TVR's for that matter, then I'm happy. I thought Leno seemed engaged and clearly isn't a Tire kicker, he also didn't go off the hook obnoxious about it, which was nice. Seemed measured and thoughtful.

Lastly, in reality, how many are going to get shipped abroad - single digit figures? it's only recently become a thing. I dare say any prospective buyers are either going to be pretty handy with the tools themselves or not bat an eye lid at the cost at shipping the car off many thousands of miles to get repaired / serviced / pampered. Perhaps they've valued the cars in the states as such to reflect that. I mean leno probably earns more than the cost of that cerb in the time it takes for him to take a dump. I would imagine they are looking at a collectors market where people are happy for them to sit in a vast garage and look pretty, with the occasional pootle around the block.

Finally, at least they don't have to worry about salted roads. I'd imagine the warmer climate would at least reduce any chassis worries.

My take is that I don't dislike LucyP, but I do feel sorry for them.

I feel sorry for them, because of the amount of time and effort they spend, on something they clearly dislike, hate even. I don't get it, I'm here because I love cars, one of only two enduring passions in my life (golf too! redface)

I just can't get my head around spending so much time, hating on TVR so much. They clearly know their stuff a bit, past owner, or employee? Who knows.

I'd love to see a positive response from LucyP, maybe they could write about something they love?

Agreed. I'd love to hear a few positive motoring stories from LucyP. Particularly if it's TVR themed.

I'll kick off with one of the most random encounters of my TVR ownership history (a positive one). Took my first cerb out for a mid winter pootle over dartmoor. In hindsight this was stupid as it was icy and lethal. I took a wrong turn somewhere around two bridges and ended up down a very steep, slippery hill down into a valley. Relieved when i got to the bottom in one piece only to see a red tuscan driving toward me. I wish I'd stopped and properly chatted but I think we were both fully clenched and trying to get back to something resembling a grippy road. The chances though... I don't think I've ever accidentally seen another trev whilst out and about in mine, but to pass one in some icy single track lane, in the depths of dartmoor, in mid winter, was thoroughly random.

I remember a car journalist in Canada, real petrolhead, who said that when people around him asked which car to buy, he was answering Toyota Camry. And yes, a Camry is much better than a Cerbera for daily use, the AC works, you find plenty of spare parts, you can do 300.000 miles we the same oil (ok this is a bit exaggerated).
And nobody here is saying the otherwise.
But this is the same for a lot of stuff, why by an old house? Why collect stamps? Why drink alcool? ...
I have 4 cars at home, a Kia Niro PHEV for my wife (before she had 2 Toyota Hybrid cars), and on my side a Chimaera, a Scimitar and as a daily a Range Rover L322. This is totally absurd, these 3 cars are ticking time bombs (according to people like LucyP), however, this is my own choice and I don't care if this is not rational, I don't do proselytizing, if people prefer to drive a Dacia, I respect that. But don't st in my handbag (the closest expression I found for "chier dans les bottes") and let me make whatever stupid choice I want.
Of course we all know here that TVR cars are not the more reliable in the world. But, honestly (if this is possible for someone like LucyP), for a small company like this, for the budget they put into creating these cars, they are not bad at all compared to mainstream cars of this era. And I always have a smile on my face when I travel thousands of kilometers in a weekend with my Chimaera.

I'm no longer in the TVR fold, but I've been to watch the Cadwell Park TVR track day for the last 2 years, and it is a great experience. The atmosphere is incredible, and everyone is friendly and willing to chat TVRs/cars in general. Highly recommended.

Let me quote from a forum member called Gerradi from 2016:
What person experience have you got though?

As I said we have had the 4.5 for 23 years now, never in that time have we had any issues with engine cooling. I used to commute to work in Central London (back when the only charges were for parking). So plenty of sitting in gridlocked traffic on hot city days but there was the occasional bit of empty road back then too, so it was flat out on that before finding the next jam to sit in. That’s on top of the many hot summer track days too.

The problem with any web forum is that people only head there when they have issues. I haven’t been on here for a good few years because I was messing about with BMWs, the amount of issues people have with those is crazy. I’m sure you could go to any other forum & find just as many issues.

There have been many times over the years I had to take the Cerb because the BMW was broken. There have been a good many posts by other people saying their daily had disgraced itself & the Cerb had saved the day.

I’m not trying to say the Cerb is more reliable than a modern BMW, the current daily is a G31 540i but honestly I had more issues with the old E39 than the Cerb, the E39 is of the same vintage at the Cerbs, it’s all relative…

Jay shares the passion. Lucy doesn’t
You’ll notice a trait.
Comes on here to slag off anything Tvr……
Then fks off for another few days before popping up on another thread and tries to put the downers on that one too.
She likes to pose a lot of questions but never answers for her ugly attitude.

I’d rather listen to Jay praising that particular car and what did he say in the final shots.
“ it’s very good” “I love it”
From Jay Leno himself.

Let’s consider the cars Jay has driven as opposed to Lucy……. She don’t drive TVR so how would she know ? Lol.

Who would you rather take advice from. As if buyers won’t understand how hot the car will feel and after a test drive understand the A/C might not be great in that car.
Jays appraisal of the car was excellent.

The thing is dear Lucy we don’t expect or demand our Tvr to be trouble free. ( Actually I do )
We know and accept the difference between a reliable daily and a toy that thrills the pants off you when you get the chance to drive it.
You don’t take on a Tvr like a Cerbera unless you can afford to fix it, if and when it does fail.
It sounds like you have the hump like a spoiled brat who doesn’t like the toys and seemingly act accordingly and even on this great thread you have to put a downer on it. Jay Leno of all people and your here talking bks about glue. They ain’t melted yet have they unless you know of a few.
A small Tvr factoid or myth you probably already know about.
The Malaysian Chimaera bodies where considered to have some of the best gel coat and turned out very smooth panels due to the heat curing them better than in a damp Blackpool.

A Cerb is a difficult car to live with but we know that…. So what just look at it. If I had the money I’d have one in a flash.
You obviously don’t want a Tvr because you want a reliable….
None of them are that reliable. High performance cars I mean. None of them.

You can break any car in one day if you drive it hard enough!
You can break a McLaren in seconds,,, just pull the very light weight interior door handles which are a micro switch to hard and it will snap off in your hand… I have lots of tails of computer glitches and problems with all cars. It’s just how it is.
Having had experience of plenty of Mustang Coyote engines I can easily foresee a day when Americans throw LS or other common V8 in them.
That’s not ideal but if it keeps the cars alive and 500 hp is 500 hp after all.
Sacrilege as I’d keep the AJP at all costs personally but it would work over there so all the doom and gloom is really uncalled for.
America is full of rich people and posses mighty engineering capacity.
Engineers galore who like Jay might have heard and saw the pictures 30 years ago and now could own one.
I’m not expecting an accountant to buy one unless he’s rich, then he’ll budget for it.
Why all the hysteria over a few Tvr going stateside.
It’s so irrational. You wouldn’t get like that about a few American kit Cobras coming over here!

The thing is guys and gals, Lucy huffs and puffs over cars valued at 20k
Is it bitterness that she can’t afford one as she is always trying to down sale every car just about?
Or is this just trolling…… for all the knowledge she sometimes shows the constant offensive provocative posts are indeed the definition of trolling.

So,,,,,, what a great video bow

Interesting as that’s what the more common Rv8 engined owners say and agree with.

No No No you have to accept that LucyP thinks they are right about everything, and everyones personal experience of running cars in hot places doesn't count because they read something and know better.

Took mine to Beaulieu yesterday. Ice warning on all the way there, slippery roads so careful driving, low sun causing havoc at 7am, but still loved driving it there and back, it got a lot of attention. Still the most comfy car I have.

I do wished I'd stopped on the way through the new forest to take a 'horsepower' photo with all the horses at the roadside...

It's a kind offer, but no thanks. The last time I went round a circuit in a TVR as a passenger, Neill Anderson was driving, and it was a prototype Tuscan.

I don't really fancy ending up in the circuit medical centre after a trip round, in an old TVR, on budget tyres, designed for a Nissan Qashqai, with an amateur driving, when the passenger seat ejects, as someone rightly mentioned, probably because the factory just bolted it through the old fibreglass floor with bolts from B&Q. It's such a long uphill walk back to the paddock at Cadwell isn't it? It's no closer at Brands either. And I wouldn't feel safe at Oulton, because I might end up in the Countess of Chester hospital. They have had a few problems with a nurse called Letby recently, I think!

No worries, offer still stands if you change your mind.

Ps - I always use premium part worn tyres. I usually get them from all the crashed TVRs at these trackdays, sometimes while the wrecks are still smouldering and their amateur driver owners are still in the medical centre wink

This actually happens all the time and has become a really big problem.
TVR drivers steal and mount the tires of nearby parked SUVs during track days.
It's otherwise very difficult to buy the right tire size legally.
Shameless people.
And if you read the track course rules carefully, you'll see that all lost TVR seats have to be collected again.
That is the law.

Hey Team,

May I just suggest that you spend more of your time enjoying your TVRs (Whatever that may involve) and stop being wound up by Trolls.

They are negative scum who 'get off' on upsetting relatively calm environments.

The more you respond, the more their vindictive, odiuos minds are stimulated.

Just go to the garage and smile.
