This blokes still out there but he's now called MR BEN JOHNSTONE. Sounds swedish enough and genuine enough for me to want to give him all of my personal details. Yeh Right! I'm almost inclined to subscribe to one of those organisations that phone you up and tell you that they have people ready and waiting to buy your car.

Just got back from le-mans..and by the way DIDN'T THEY JUST LOVE TVR's!!..anyway, got talking to a couple of Danish guys (real genuine) and guess what..they pay 180% car tax on the market value of any new or used car! This guy had a 30K+ range rover and with the car tax it had cost him over 80K sterling! I know these guys earn a lot, but jesus, 180% car tax!

Just imagine the response if that was introduced here!

A mate of mine has just sold his Tuscan to a man in Denmark. After a few emails and calls he came with the CASH. Looked around it, paid and drove away. He was a good, genuine guy.

Seems the guy has changed his name to Ben Jonstone. The twit used the same address so I easily googled it to this forum smile

Basically I told him i'd open a new account (with just a fiver in it) and asked for a wire transfer. When the money is nice and safe in it you can pass the car on to his 'local agent'...

Somehow i don't think he'll call back... smile

Thanks for the public service guys!

I have pretty much sold my Cerbera to a nice chap in Germany called Alex, he's having ADAC check the car out etc and I've spoken to him on the phone and he asked all the right questions about clutches etc..

Never hurts to go in to a deal with your eyes wide open though.

Hello Kristina,
Hope you are well? I am okay with the pictures you have sent me and i am willing to pay £8,600.00 for the car,i am a used car dealer and am going to making all necessary adjustment for the car to be suitable for driving here in Stockholm .
I have contacted an auto shipper in the United Kingdom who will handle the inspection,pick-up and shipping of the car to me,his name is Mr Robert Macaulay and his mobile no:+447024014924 .
The payment will be made to you with a certified cheque drawn from a United Kingdom Bank, you should deposit the cheque on a fast payment/clearance scheme so the funds can be available to you in 24hrs max(any extra cost for this to be done will be borne solely by myself) .
If this arrangement suits you get back to me promptly.

Best Regards'

Adrian..................

I am going to tell him the car is sold....

If someone is really interested in buying a car abroad they would make the effort to go and actually see the car or send cash.

Hello Adrian or shall I call you Jonathan or maybe Ben Johnston.....

Seems like you have made yourself quite a name here in the Uk.

I have just posted everything to a Forum to make you even more popular..

PS: I sold the Car this weekend

Maybe everyone should do that - he might think twice next time

Just to let you know this character is still in operation from Denmark now has a used car company in Stockholm Sweden (allegedly) that he trying to buy cars from the UK to modify for Swedish use. He has been e-mailing me under the name of Adrian Dexter with a PO Box address in Sweden and is trying to sell his car via an auto shipper in the United Kingdom who would apparently handle the inspection, pick-up and shipping of the car to him, his name is Mr Robert Macaulay. He has today told me that his has just been on his honeymoon with his 'sweetheart' after recently getting married. Be warned because the conversations were leading down the path of money laundering scams...stay away!

It is still on going although the guy is now calling himslef Darius King
Residence/Home Address :-STENHUGGERVEJ 6 ST TV
2400 KOBENHAVN NV.
DENMARK .
He is also still using Robert Macaulay as his shipping agent. It is a definite scam. Yes an agent will come nad remove the car but the Bank will recover the funds even if the cheque has cleared due to the money laundering and proceeds of crime acts. You will lose everything

Hello guys,

As a few of you have already said, many thanks for flagging this issue. I've had exactly the same from "Darius" - I've gone so far as to him offering to:-

"...make further arrangement with the shipping agent and make plans for a viewing date,a 20% deposit will be sent to you to hold the car for me till the shipper comes around for the inspection and viewing .
When i have word from him that the car is in good condition the balance for the funds will be given to you in cash(GBP) and the pick-up and final exchange of documents can take place, please email me if this arrangement is okay so i can know what to do ."

He's offering cash now, or is this just part of the scam? Not sure how it works if cash is involved - any ideas? Should be fun if it's dodgy money as I work for a company that does bank note checking machines! Has anybody actually met Robert Macaulay?

Thanks again.
