I have been considering buying a Cerbera for several months and am eagerly awaiting 'the right one' to appear on Autotrader. References are often made to 'early models' as the ones which are more likely to have problems, but it is seldom mentioned, up to what plate/year, is classified as an 'early' Cerbera. Anyone have any ideas?

Secondly, if anyone could provide a rough indication of average annual running costs (say for example a '97 4.2 V8 model) it would be much appreciated.

Many thanks.

'the right one' is already here on PH!
It's mine, it's yellow, it's sorted, and it's for sale!

Most people seem to mark the 'Early' Cerbera as pre-1998. This is what I was told by a number of dealers also. How true this is I cant comment - I bought the best I could find within my budget (after some searching), regardless of its age.

Running costs - see a number of members profiles on PH for the figures. It varies quite dramatically.

Cheers,
Tommo

Early could mean pre-98 cars...however, some think that the earlier cars would have had their problems sorted out by now, just make sure that you have checked all the history...get an independent specialist to inspect the car...

running costs would be very much depending on how you drive it...budget £1500 per year for services plus other stuff... patrol, I drove my last year for 8k, town and motorway and my fuel bill was ~£1600 plus ..., insurance around £1000 (5yr no claims)...

hope this help.

Danny.

Insurance. I got mine with Tesco they are good and it's about £850 a year, with 5 years no claims.

Most early one will have been sorted anyway and can be the most reliable as well.
