You lot talk a load of old cack You can get decent cars for less than £16.5K, I managed it paying a lot less, even if I need a new clutch and an engine rebuild it will still have cost me less than many of the cars out there and I will know the work has been done properly (and I don't need either at the moment).
I do agree that you should buy the best you can and if you can stretch to £20-25k then you *should* get a pretty good one but do not discount cheaper cars nor those with a few miles on, cars that get used generally get looked after and niggles will get sorted.
Of course mine will now blow up on the way home
