Well, after a little aprehension I took the big leap into the unknown and after reading some of everyone's helpful tips went to work on the Cerbie.

After several attempts at the rusted bolts got the battery out, charged it and put it back in, pissed of all the neighbours with the obscenely loud alarm as it went off for about 10mins first time i attatched the battery.

All I can say is it is a thoroughly gratifying experience, and thanks to all who post there brilliant advice.

PS Also fixed both cooling fans so she stays nice a cool now.

The battery is located in the boot, isn't it ?
How can the bolts rust ?

PS : totally agree with you, nothing quite more satisfactory to work yourself on your car

The batery in my Cerb is in the n/s front wing.

Thom, I can think of 4 and a half thousand things I would rather be doing than working on a car !!

manual work is good for the soul. I've just got hold of some ramp thingies and axle stands. Easter weekend will include getting rust in eyes under car.

p.s. Even found a way of making gardening gratifying. Hired a pneumatic drill and smashed up the concrete patio in my g/f's garden this weekend. Hand are numb, and shoulders ache, but what a blast! Serious destruction.

Breaking concrete is a real blast - did the same myself when converting small front garden (by removing concrete path) so I can get Cerbera on it (off the road) ... what a laugh breaking it all up, but back breaking work though.
