Now into my 3rd week of first time 4.2 Cerb ownership and despite an expensive clutch issue I am absolutely thrilled. Plenty of TVR drivers offering a wave, I think its a club I am going to enjoy - subject to car treating me nicely - I hope.

Welcome to the madhouse.
You don't expect to do anything other than visit PistonHeads or drive your car, do you?

Hope to see you at one of the many meets to kick tyres and talk Cerbera.

Hi from amother first time Cerb owner (also 3 weeks)

should I be waiting for my clutch to go pop too? (based on "buses always coming in 3s" adage!)

looks like the epidemic of recent Cerb purchasing is extending from the epicentre of Kingston/Surbiton/Wimbledon/Epsom, right down the M3!

Jeremy, you're officially the old timer (according to Sgirl and Tam Lin) when it comes to Cerbs, does that mean you get to arrange the next meet?

cheers
sean

Another one to add to the list, I pick mine up on Friday - less than 2 days to go!!!!! :

Edited to add: The clutch in mine has been done as part of the sale, so hopefully I won't be number 4

I am also another newbie as of approx 5 weeks.

Warning - those of a nervous disposition may want to avert their eyes - please note this was a private buy, but checked by a dealer prior to purchase & given AOK.

Sent to Offord Motors for a full 12000 mile service to bring it up to date. Something about dealer not right?
Additional work required as follows:
Front pad seized, one face of disc rusty/one warped due to heat - full RR discs/pads fitted
Front bushes gone - poly race ones fitted
Rear bushes shot - ditto
Rear diff acting as sprinkler - rebuilt
Front struts should have been replaced under warantee as recall(ish)- may fit Nitrons
Air con empty - recharged
Due back tomorrow after two weeks, looking forward to bill
No I am not going to rant about the cars faults (or dealers). I went in to this with my eyes open. I have owned old Alfas & Scimitars with electrical integrity based on a random number generator (various bits work at various times, but not together) and more parts fall off the faster you go, but I still loved them. They had character & style. That is why, irrespective, I am 100% pleased as punch with my car because its not boring, computer controlled or designed by robot. It still has a life like no other vehicle I know, and I will bring it back from 'The Land That Servicing Forgot' if it kills me.:

Funny you should say that Sean - check out the plans for Surrey Run 4: Dawn Raid on 4th May.

Lets have all you local Cerberas out'n'about.

Just got the bill, the brakes were £284 for the discs, £95 for the pads, £30 labour all plus the dreaded VAT. Don't know if this is good or bad, but on the whole I was pretty pleased with the total bill considering the amount of work done. It certainly sounded smoother as it was bought back, and I looked underneath to see a spotless shiny non-leaking diff. Taking it for a trip to the seaside tomorrow (60 miles each way) so I will see how it runs.

Matthew69. What happened was - only a week after purchase I was having problems getting it into gear from standstill so took it to Hawthorns. They changed fluid afterwhich the box would not entertain any movement at all. So, new clutch, but ended up having to get upgraded clutch assembly, AND new flywheel (£450) etc as TVR changed assembly and no more 97 assembly available. A nasty initiation but having done Cerbera homework beforehand not blast out of the blue. Hope she behaves for a while...

Hi to all recent NewCerberites..and bear with us old hands..we all have to start somewhere..if we're to get to DannyLT's 400+ bhp

Lucky SGirl & me..apparently the clutch conked out on "our" Cerb (well it will be 23/04) when wheeled into showroom, so a new one was fitted yesterday. Something tells me we'll get through a few of the things..is this due to a superlight flywheel, or supergreen Ken Livingstone treehugging non-asbestos plates made from Andrex?!

Just out of curiosity, did you consider a speed six, I understand them to be just as fast in all but track day situations and somewhat more refined?

Cool, that is less than they were quoting last year (they had just started to do cerberas then so we decided to leave it until they had some other solutions).

How was the trip to the seaside?

Hi Cajun,

not sure who you aimed that at, but SGirl & I were put off by the Speed Six real/apocryphal reliability reputation (as in, lack of). 4.5's also seem more refined than our 4.2, if you believe reviews etc, but as no-one could give a particularly compelling reason why the 4.5 is definitely better than a 4.2, it semed sensible to us to pocket the difference in price, and use it on mods/fixes, that I am sure await us..
