Do you use your Cebie as your every day car?
Discussion
I reckon the more you use it the less will go wrong. I've had my 4.2 from new for over 4 years. First three years virtually nothing went wrong (33,000 miles). It has been standing since Feb and every time I come to use something goes wrong. I've managed 400 miles since then and about 7 vistits to the dealer. As soon as it comes back again I shall use as much as possible - That's the key.

I am a happy owner of a 4.2 Cerbera - Yes, we do exist! After 51,000 miles in four years I think I qualify as an everyday user. I agree totally with the comments about regular use. Yes, I have had more problems that one would expect from mass produced Japanese products but far more "grin factor" too. I have had four radiators and six starter motors but other than that all has been remarkably well. I just wish TVR could sort the apparent design faults. Oh yes, like the boot light switch that lasts for a maximum of six months !
Fully agree with the theory that they get better the more you use them - did Amsterdam to Paris last night in sub-zero temperatures and just under 4 hours. (no wonder I`ve done >10000 miles in 8 months!!!) Only complaint is having to amputate right foot due to frost-bite..... Anyway, it has to be my everyday transport - I can`t afford 2.
It certainly was freezing last night Thom - and therein lies my only criticism of the car. Too bl**dy cold. I mean, what`s with the seperate air supplies for hot and cold? I`m no design guru but even I could have figured that there might just be a slightly better way of doing it - and don`t tell me they were trying to keep costs down - I had a better heater in my Ford Anglia...
Seriously - even though I`ve been lucky enough to spend many happy and safe hours on German Autobahns at speeds which, in the UK, would be in excess of a £10,000 fine and 5 years behind bars, sub-zero driving should be left to the Swedes (people not cars).
Talking about speeding fines.... I bet the Germans will be none too happy to find out that, with the introduction of the EU arrest warrant, they might now be liable for arrest in their home country, where 300+ kph is NOT (always) a crime, for driving up the M1 at 130 mph in the wrong lane!!!
Oh... and a big shout to all the English lorry drivers I passed on the Autoroute A1 at 02:00 am this morning - Respect.

4 years old and only 4000 miles???? I guess the previous owner put it in his garage being afraid of the engine to blow up a few hundred miles later
Sorry for this bad joke lovemytvr but maybe I am just becoming sarcastic enough to own a TVR
Still I'd like very much to be at your place (which I will one day for sure )
agh:
Some thing I have learnt over the last 10k miles......
Lesson 1: Always give passengers the safety briefing (you know; door switch location - electrical AND manual, sick bag under your seat, "in the event of a loss of cabin pressure, oxygen masks will etc, etc," but most importantly "Do Not Touch Anything !!!")
Lesson 2: Trying to close the passenger side hot air vent whilst driving is (for short arses like me) damn near impossible without loss of life.
I am pretty certain that there the cold air ducts are not sealed properly (force 10 gale from under the dash gave me a clue) but I'm just not looking forward to wriggling my way under there with a can of expanding sealant !!
lovemytvr:
I was going to say that I envied the fact that you still have that first "It's mine, really mine" feeling to enjoy - but changed my mind.... I still get it every time I press the black button.
Thom:
I'm in Paris for a while - drop me an e-mail and I'll take you for a spin...

Congrats lovemytvr! You are gonna love it. I know how you feel.....picked up a 1999 S6 yesterday and it has blown my mind. I know alot of you are down on S6's but how many of you have actually experienced major probs with them? Then again I don't think I want to know! I have got to use mine now every day in all weather, so I am expecting some niggles, however the trade off in performance is well worth any hassle I may get
