Anyone had, or know how much it would cost to have the Valve guides or Rings done on a 4.2 Cerbera? Factory job?
Webbs found a miss fire, and some oil on a plug.
Been told to monitor it, as could be all ok. But thought I'd better be prepared for the worst case!!

Joolz won't be able to do the work (yet ), but it'll need a rebuild to do the rings. Ask the factory, or get your dealer to do it. It's probably several K though. Just doing the valve guides is probably a fair bit cheaper.

Spoke to Joolz and he said:

"If there's oil fouling to that extent, then there'd be plenty of blue smoke out of the rear of the car ..
the smoke appears way before there's enough oil to foul a plug. More likely i would say that the misfire caused the plug to foul with wet sooty deposits, It would be very rare for oil fouling to have occurred to this extent without some smokey visual clue though. Monitor the situation, ask a friend to follow you as you drive and confirm if there's oily blue smoke from the exhaust (black smoke when you floor the throttle is perfectly OK) .. and hope it's an electrical misfire that's caused it rather than mechanical oily deposits..
Joolz"

This sounds spot on to me, as you know I've been having electrical problems and have never seen any Blue smoke! Hopefully getting it back from Webbs tonight so should finally have a 100% Cerbera!
