I have spoke with Jools and he is willing to offer us the following group buy :

1) bespoke remap only (typical gains 15hp)(remap includes the cooling chip)
up to 5 people : £450
6 people and more £400

2) bespoke remap and ported inlet manifolds (typical gains another
15hp over option 1)including cooling chip
up to 5 people £750
6 people and more £700

Any takers?

What's this fancy inlet manifold porting? Can this be done on a 4.5?

This is not only about overall gains, my car runs so sweetly after Jools remapped it last year, far better across the whole rev range, so don't just think big figures view the overall picture.

agreed tim,

people should search for the threads about remap and what it does to the car.

I have the cooling chip fitted already and have had the car mapped by Joo
to great success, it all but eliminated the jerkyness around 2000rpm on a light throttle. No mega numbers in top end BHP but gained power through the rev range with the biggest gain of about 20 / 25 BHP between 5000 and 5500rpm, and 320 / 325 ftlb torque between 3 and 5k rpm up from 300 ftlb.
I assume the mapping would have to be altered again to account for the flowed inlets so if it comes in at the prices quoted put me down for flowed inlets and mapping.
Also any mention of the exhaust Joo was developing?

Well aware of the mapping benefits, I think if the car can be smoothed out, i'd be a happy man.

However, it's the ported inlets i'm keen to learn about.

pm Jools for info on the porting of inlets.

There is a raised lip just after the butterflies which reduces airflow, polishing this out would increase air flow and smoothness. perghaps this is what jools includes as part of the porting

The 4.2 inlets have a few area which need addressing to improve flow, mainly centred around the butterfly spindles, the area just immediately after the butterflies and the waisted section at the manifold to head face. The inlets need stripping down off the car in order to do it and refitting/balancing when back on the car, plus one slip in the butterfly area and it's an expensive mistake so time/patience/care are the order of the day .. hence the cost is quite high.

On the 4.5 you don't have those issues, but there can be mismatches in how the sleeves of the 4.5 system go together, plus the spindle is 8mm rather than the 6mm of the 4.2 so the 4.5 spindle defo needs thinning down if youre looking for max flow, but the gains on the 4.5 are only worthwhile if you have a really strong car in the first place (10hp gained on a 430hp red rose maybe), otherwise leave alone.

I have been thinking about this for some time and its right up my street. Please put me down as a tentative as I have no idea when I would be able to get up to see Jools.

Sorry - option 2

I will contact Jools as I would probably look to remove the manifolds and send them to him before refitting and driving up for the remap.

Cheers

This is really interesting, especially as it's generally assumed not much can be done with the 4.2. I can't afford this yet but it'll be on my list for the future.

Are those prices all inclusive or do we need to add VAT?
