Wiper contol box burnt out
Discussion
Wipers packed up today part way across the screen. I've had a delve about and the wiper control box circuit board is completely fried black with the high current tracks lifted off the board with the heat.
Does anyone have a spare wiper control box they would like to sell or know the whereabouts of one?

I'm having a problem with mine, where is this box located?Does anyone have a spare wiper control box they would like to sell or know the whereabouts of one?
Si - engine bulkhead end of the passenger foot well, you need to push the top of the vertical carpeted bit forwards until it will drop, then the whole vertical panel will drop down and hinge towards you revealing all of the nasty little boxes! ECU, wipers, headlights, and possibly the heater box too.
Ireland - thanks for the warning, I couldn't see a root cause within the control box, so I was suspicious of a wiper motor problem. The 20A fuse didn't blow so it's not a hard short. Shame really as it would have saved the board. I suspect a stalled motor or some jiggery pokery with the park switch (which I don’t understand how it works yet) Any advice? I'm presently trying to figure out what power I need to apply directly to the motor to see if it works as a stand alone unit - would be handy to get the wipers into the parked position at the very least. I'm not sure if power needs to go onto the park terminal or if I can just put power between ground and the speed 1 or 2 terminals to test the motor.

the exact same thing has happened to me. in the end i have moved the wipers down on the 'spline' so they are not in the middle of the screen , & i have been lucky as it hasnt rained since i moved them . it needs sorting though so would be very interested in the outcome of you testing the motor as thats the next thing i need to do but again wasnt sure how to do it.
i suspect my motor got wet as just before it packed up it rained very heavily & the wipers worked for a while - probably ubtil the water rushed forward onto the motor. it all seems to have dried out now. when its sorted i intend to fabricate some sort of cover for the wiper motor, to aviod it happening again.
if you do make any progess can you please let me know , so i can try the same thing !! best regards. Doug
