i want a 2006 gallardo, help needed!
Discussion
hi all,
i am new to this forum..... so go easy on me.....
a picture of an lp500s in white infront of the golden gate bridge hangs on my study wall, so i guess i like all things lambo, would love to own a murci sv, but can;t afford one just yet..... but gotta have a lambo for a bit, so....
i am after a gallardo, and want ideally a 2006 in nero/yellow, with titanium calisto alloys, yellow calipers and two tone leather interior (not yellow/tan!)..... other extras i do not care..... mdsh essential, ideally manual with 'e' clutch, and low miles......i pick a 2006 as i have the cash for this ready for the right car...without having to talk to the bank and the misses!!
saw this last night.... is mint, but is a 2004, and at the top end of the 2004 retail market.....

anyone know this car..... is it worth 69k? are the revisions to 2006 worth it....is anyone looking to sell a 2006.....

Can't say ,it was maybe 7 years since I drove an 04.
There are as I understand huge differences between pre06 cars and 06- cars, especially with regards to clutch life.
Let's put it like this, when I looked a few years back, the Lamborghini dealers told me they woulnt touch pre 06 cars due to the high level of issues ,it's different now,due to lack of stock they will buy anything.
I don't think driving wise you would notice Any difference between 500 and 520 bhp,

Once the clutch has been changed to the latest revision, why would an 04 car be heavier on it than an 06 car on an identical clutch version? I also seem to remember that the extra bhp on the post 06 cars was mainly due to the revised exhaust, which was basically a copy of the tubi that i had fitted to my 04. But that might be complete rubbish!
My car is on SOR, LHW did a lot of work on it .. new clutch, 30km service, fixed an electrical fault and a fair bit of cosmetic work. Their commission is very reasonable in my opinion for the peace of mind the buyer will get from buying from a main dealer.
ETA - the LP560 that has replaced it is magnificent, totally different car and i never thought i would say it but i love the e-gear.

Agree with your comments on the 560-4. I was pursuaded to test drive one and was fairly cynical of both the difference in driving experience and the E Gear as I was coming from a manual 06 Gallardo. But the difference pursuaded me to buy as it is such a different car. Well worth the "upgrade" in my opinion. As for 04 vs 06 sorry but mine was 07 MY so never driven earlier cars. thanks for all the replies guys...... not so concerned re the extra bhp, but the other changes re gearing ratio, steering and suspension, etc...... think i might hold out for a 2006, though currently prices are going up, i assume depreciation will be less for a 2006 than a 2004, and i intend to keep the car for no more than 2 years....
lp560-4 would be nice, but wife simply won;t let me spend that sort of money!! though she is a secret petrol head.... she drove a manual m5 for 3 years and wants to drive the lambo!!

06 car is just better allround, engine revs better, suspension better, interior better quality and although the seats look the same, 06 seats much more comfortable, and better clutch life due to lower 1st gear, pre 06 had 1st gear that would do 70 mph.
The black car at redline was my old snotter.

Very interesting matey. The black car at redline was my old snotter.
1st gear em,would that be why my 04 manual was easy to stall? unless i slipped the clutch
and kept the revs up,yeah not ideal.
Cheers

In a manual Gallardo you should manouevre without throttle, the car will sort that itself, once the clutch is fully engaged then go for it! If a relative novice moves one in our showroom (turning circle isn't the best) then the revs are flaring all over the place, and they're easy to stall. Tell them to forget the throttle and it's nice and smooth...1st gear em,would that be why my 04 manual was easy to stall? unless i slipped the clutch

I to had this dilemma back in 2009 when I bought mine. I went for an 06 plus car and actually got an 07 partially as it had 6 months warranty left so plenty of time to sort out any issues too that may have arised. Luckily none.
The extra 20bhp is hardly noticable to be honest. But personally I do think they drive better and yes they do seem to be have a slightly better interior build quality internally. I was lucky enough to find one with all the goodies on, ceramics, reversing camera, lifting gear, interior pack and so on.....
And as Matt says they do seem to have increased in value by around 10% or so from when I bought mine.
